H-6 Bomber Aircraft Discussions

The kill-chain will remain the same, and this is the main weakness of the ASBM. Even though it is called "weakness", it can be made redundant as well with multiple sensors platforms, so taking them all out would be easier said than done.

I think in the future, China should further invest in space-based sensors, especially increasing the Synthetic Aperture Radar equipped satellites to enable all-weather targeting capabilties. At a certain quantity of orbiting satellites, there is basically no way for a CSG to hide anymore, even if they know the orbits and passes of all the satellites.
More space based sensors, while helpful, probably wouldn't make the biggest delta of difference. Low flying UAV swarms in coordination with something like the Divine Eagle would probably make a bigger difference in terms of adding robustness to the kill chain.

So because putting an ASBM on an H-6 instead of 6x YJ-12s is just dumb, let's consider why else one might want to mount a Big F*ing Missile on an H-6.

I see only one other possibility: as an ASAT designed to destroy satellites in MEO/GEO.

Maybe it's not a ballistic missile? The picture with the silhouette looks like it has fins?

An ASBM (with fins or whatever) has a much longer range than the YJ-12, which is just the kind of long range standoff weapon the H-6 needs to escape from interceptors, maybe even without the need for escort fighters.

Other suggestions from Chinese forums: Might be an IRBM-ranged ballistic anti-air missile.

If equipped with a tactical nuclear warhead, or with a mature variant of China's new HPM/EMP emitter, it could be used to take out an entire air-group in one go.

Again a cold war styled project; using nuclear armed AAMs to take out strategic bomber groups.

H-6U has been configured to include night-time air-refuelling with suitable lighting systems.
in order to implement night-time refuelling, at H-6U rack on both sides, left and right landing gear nacelles inside of the tail cone and after the crew compartment on each side with a white light. Refuelling pods at the bottom is also equipped with led

Analysing the light mainly in the Fuel Filler Pipes and docking sleeve to provide receiving aircraft pilot lighting instructions. Green light indicates that the refueling system is losing oil, yellow light means everything can start refueling system oil, cheer red light indicates the system is not ready not oil
