German Chancellor Scholtz to invite Chinese Premier Li Qiang to Berlin on June 20th for talks.

Let's see if Scholtz has at least some bits of backbone (like Macron) - or without any (like the 360-degrees Bearbock).

Germany definitely learnt a lot from their master across the Atlantic: "Let's shoot at the person that we want to talk with for no fvcking reason whatsoever before we start talking with that person. Works everytime, right?"

Honestly, I'm getting more and more disappointed with Germany ever since Merkel left the helm.

Delusional! Brussels continues to dream that China can and will force Putin to declare complete and unconditional surrender.

China must force Russia to end the war in Ukraine, European Commission spokesman Eric Mamer:

“The EU welcomes V. Zelensky’s telephone conversation with Xi Jinping. This is an important, long overdue, but first step for China in fulfilling its responsibilities as a member of the United Nations Security Council. The Chinese leadership must use its influence to force Russia to end its aggressive war, restore Ukraine’s territorial integrity and respect its sovereignty, which would be the basis for a just peace,” he added.

I was wrong. Beggars can not only be choosers but also act like the boss.

A very refreshing speech and acknowledgement of China's ancient history, innovations, inventions that has helped shaped our world from the current British Foreign Secretary. It's nice to contrast the reporting from the barrage of negative news regarding the Sino-West relationship.

Whilst his speech and reporting on the western media has focused too much and predictably so on the need to make the usual anti-China spiel this bit of his speech is just as important and in my opinion more so since it acknowledges the current political body/entity that's responsible for revitalizing China to what it is today: A powerful country.

Can't find this part of his speech on YouTube.
We've been fortunate that recent Tory foreign secretaries over the past few years have tended to be moderates (Truss aside) and are more nuanced than many of those on the backbench. The UK will obviously not be severing it's servitude to the US anytime soon but I'm glad that we have had better figureheads than say, the Germans (Baerbock and Von der Leyen both)

Lammy, as expected from someone in an opposition party, has tended to go with the soundbite approach, and with Labour all but guaranteed to form the next government, you can expect UK-China relations to deteriorate even further during their time in power. Populism still very much rules the roost in contemporary British politics
