According to the Guanqi team, they believe post Macron's visit China and France is now actively discussing PLAN basing in one of their pacific overseas territories. They also said we should expect France to do something to appease the US on the surface and we should ignore it because they've already flew it by China.

Sure enough shortly after Macron went back a French frigate transited Taiwan Strait, evidentially France had China's permission as the ship kept to China's side of the strait and both countries kept the incident very low profile.

If you could only pick one, where in the above map's read circles would you put the PLAN base?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. We will see in due time if thats true.

As for a hypothetical ideal base for China, I think somewhere here:

I was blown away by BMW's textbook disaster PR.

View attachment 111306

The general meaning is: ice cream is distributed through the App to receive coupons, and then some of the special supply versions are reserved for their foreign colleagues, and those foreigners who eat ice cream are their foreign colleagues.

However, they were unable to produce evidence of App distribution.

A more dramatic scenario emerged. At 2:45 Chinese time, an "enthusiastic" netizen on Zhihu, a well-known Chinese question-and-answer forum, offered suggestions to BMW. The translation of the suggestions is as follows:

Let me tell you how to whitewash yourself, you can say that those foreigners are all BMW employees. The daily limit of ice cream for the event has been distributed, and foreigners can get it because the ice cream is a benefit for employees.

Then BMW gave the above reply at 10:00 Chinese time, which is 7 hours and 15 minutes after the netizen gave the suggestion.

I can't imagine what they went through for 7 hours and 15 minutes!

Absolutely large car accident scene!

Originally, this matter could have been solved by spending a thousand dollars on three days of ice cream and a symbolic car purchase coupon hidden in the ice cream package. Of course, a sincere apology with zero cost attached. Oh my God.

If the previous operation was only due to a mistake in hiring personnel, the performance of BMW today is stupid at the level of a multinational company.
it’s boomer tier thinking which often fails to account for the fact that they’re selling to human people and not some caricature of orientals that these westerners can then grasp their Chinese money to take back to the west.

Dolce & Gabana at least had the balls to face the Chinese nation and apologise. H&M decided white supremacy was more important to them than surviving as a company in the future and persisted with the sinking black legend of the anglos.

Apart from Djibouti the PLA/N don't have an overseas base to speak of, and the idea that their second one ever would be at a French pacific overseas territory is very difficult to entertain.

The idea itself cannot even be spoken of in a casual way as a "possibility" because if it is being discussed by the two nations in a meaningful way it would amount to a near tectonic geopolitical shift in France's willingness to engage with China and piss of the US.

Obviously we cannot prove a negative, but for things like this I think there needs to be some more serious indicators through the usual channels to take this sort of rumour seriously.

You know what guys and girls, that BMW racist ice cream incident, it could have been staged.

It is the camera angle.

It is pointed directly at the whole thing, not too close, and not too far away.

BMW is just one damn company in the China car market. What if someone did not like BMW?

What a way to kick them in the balls. HAHA! HAHA!

Whoever had the idea to give out free ice cream should be freaking fired on the spot. What stupidity.

Damage your brand, and open yourself to unrelenting attacks, all over free ice cream, at a car show. If someone at BWM wanted free ice cream at maybe the world's most important car show, just go buy it at the food court or something. Gee, those car show exhibition halls probably have bathrooms too, so no need to go urinate on the street.

So I think it was staged.

And BMW got kicked in the balls. This time lost a nut. LOL.

Freaking hilarious!

:D

Australian popular commentator echoes the growing disenchantment Australians are having with paying billions of taxpayer monies to chain australia to american decline. I did find it interesting that Friendlyjordies mentioned the $400bln price tag of the subs was a way to force future Australian governments to remain slaves of the US.

A fresh Chinese attempt at pomological warfare.

In their quest for the perfect pineapple, Taiwan’s agricultural engineers spared no effort. They spent almost 25 years developing a variety with a mango-like fragrance.

On April 4th Taiwan’s deputy agriculture minister, Chen Junne-jih, accused China of “plundering” plant breeders’ rights after mainland media reported that Mango Pineapples were being grown in southern China. Smuggling seeds or seedlings to the mainland was “absolutely unacceptable”, he said.

In 2021, China banned all Taiwanese pineapple imports, saying they carried pests. Taiwan called that a political ploy. Soon the pineapple became a symbol of resistance against China.
Ms Tsai urged her people to “eat Taiwan’s pineapples until you burst”. Local businesses added pineapple to products ranging from beer to beef noodles. Taiwan also called on other countries to buy its “freedom pineapples”.

The province of Hainan recently reported that Taiwan's types were being grown on some 60 hectares of farmland. Taiwan has just 27 hectares of Mango Pineapple under cultivation, with production restricted to four seedling companies and three farming households.

“It’s a real disappointment. It’s very damaging for us as individuals, and as a country.”

After last year's ban on Taiwanese pineapple I did a little bit of research on difference between 菠萝 vs 凤梨. To be fair their 凤梨 is in a lot of ways superior to 菠萝 so it makes sense to import and try to cultivate 凤梨 if conditions allow.

The thing is with Hainan I believe the people who actually bought 凤梨 there to farm are actually Taiwanese farmers who saw the favorable terms that the provincial government was providing and decided to go over of their own free will. And if they brought with them seedlings then well that's that.

China apparently put all the hard hitting agricultural genetic engineering resources into watermelons. As last year I saw a photo of South Korean's ex-president Moon eating watermelon and my first reaction is what the hell kind of fruit is that:
6cb26641gy1h69aih4vhzj20iw0sgdiv.jpg
This is apparently closer to wild watermelon. If instead your watermelon has thin skin/seedless/super juicy/yellow flesh or some combination that means some scientist has poured in some effort to improve it.
Kind of explain why the watermelon at the Beijing winter Olympics was so popular with South Koreans.
