Why is it a joke? What's the upside for China to essentially go apeshit and acting bellicose with rightful indignation if the howlings will not be backed up by credible follow through militarily unless we expect the mainland to commit strong actions now if it feels it's back is against the literal wall?Absolute disaster of a meet up. I know there is no plan of selling weapons, but it signals threatening China on Taiwan and ughur issue get you concessions. Even if there are compromise under the table it encourage others to play same card. Unless she gave up something big underneath this is a joke.
Am I annoyed and disappointed that the leadership still went ahead with the meeting despite the provocative statements coming from 360⁰ of course!! But foreign policy must not be based on emotional feel good pronouncements like Jai India does along with Jai Lindsey Crying Graham.
Are you all this excited for an armed conflict over some dumb words that has no SIGNIFICANCE OR WOULD BRING ANY MATERIAL DIFFERENCE to the war over Taiwan? The f..k is wrong with some of us here? It's one thing to feel so butthurt over every stupid comments from the west but that's to be expected since that's all they could do and despite that their economy and market depends that much on China. Unless the PRC/CPC sees no other way but to become brutalist with their foreign policy I don't see why this latest political brouhaha should be interpreted more than that, political brownie points for Germany. As @Overbom correctly pointed out, watch not what they say, but what they do. ACTIONS SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS.
