"We have to be careful not to become a party to a major conflict between the US and the People's Republic of China. Europe must try to formulate an independent role as far as possible and not appear there in the region as an appendage of the US."

Russia or China possibly behind 'altered' Pentagon documents: US experts

The Poles are going to get their assess kicked if they're stupid enough to attack Russia. However, there is another theory of an agreement between Poland and Russia to allow Poland to acquire the portion of Ukraine due to some historical claim. All this bluster may be setting that stage up.

I think the main question is is that if it were disinformation, what is the disinformation trying to achieve? There doesn’t really seem to be anything obvious to me. Also, a lot of the information can be easily verified by other spy agencies, so randomly leaked documents might not convince whoever they’re trying to trick to do anything.

Furthermore, if it were disinformation, why would it be circulating for months before being found? Wouldn’t you want to leak the most “up to date” information? Wouldn’t you also want to push the disinformation as hard as you can?

The most important thing is the amount of damage this has done towards the credibility of the Pentagon. If it were disinformation, it’d be dumb to tell others that it is disinformation because you’d want to keep it as close to your chest as possible. Other countries, then, can likely only operate off the belief that it’s real.

Is the enormous amount of damage this has done to the Pentagon’s credibility (as in, would other countries still want to share their intel with the pentagon), worth what objective they’re trying to push? I would say no, because I really don’t see an obvious objective.

And fearmongering isn’t an objective because there are MUCH better ways to fearmonger than to leak documents. Like instead of leaking they can just talk to the media. You think Anglo-affiliated media would doubt the Pentagon?

According to some pundits (Ray McGovern and Larry Johnson), the leak is the result of internal infighting within Western powers. The desired effect was to prevent this Ukrainian-Russian conflict from expanding to something much worse. The complaints of US spying on allies is just a ruse.

Looks like literally no one wants the war to continue. Why are people against Xi brokering a treaty again?

Because the damage to the USA in both self image and its status as a super power along with permanently painting the USA as a paper tiger that had eight years to prepare only for China to swoop in and end the conflict without too much problems after the USA is exposed as a cowardly nation too afraid of a real fight. In other words, this crisis would pretty much ensure Chinas rise in the world and the USA losing all its credibility on a more permanent basis where it’s dollar power and nation image is concerned
