This is what I remember about European history, which is I do not remember much of anything at all.
Just looking at a map, is useful because it reminds us of what European history was like.
All the wars started in central Europe, or it was Napoleon marching east.
Anyways, after WW2, the French made a concerted effort to build a lasting partnership with Germany, so they will not be killing each other till eternity.
So far, that has really worked.
French and Germany are not going to go to war.
But in central Europe, clearly old time European history stretching back centuries is being played out again in the Ukraine this time.
There is no reason to expect the French and Germans to have a desire to be stuck in bloody ancient history. They turned the page on that chapter.
They might support Ukraine in principle, but no way will they want to relive that history, like some are eager to do in central Europe.
