Protesters set Macron’s favorite Paris restaurant on fire

Demonstrators protesting against Emmanuel Macron’s pension reform have set fire to the French president’s favorite Paris restaurant, La Rotonde.

Some 300 rioters clashed with police outside the posh eatery on the iconic Boulevard du Montparnasse in Paris on Thursday, local media reported, citing authorities.

Stones, bottles and flares were tossed at the security forces, eventually leading to the branded red awnings on the front of La Rotonde catching fire. Firefighters, who were swift to arrive on the scene, did not allow the flames to spread further and extinguished the blaze, according to the media.

Macron chose La Rotonde to celebrate his victory in the presidential election in 2017. He has also visited the expensive restaurant on many other occasions, occasionally dining there with foreign leaders. The French president previously told reporters that he developed a fondness for the place during his student years.

funny how there’s always a pattern of the US proposing detente the. Sanctioning Chinese firms and entities. Like they’re schizophrenic, or simply lack respect for others.
That's because the President doesn't want to look weak on China to the American voters. For Americans compromise is seen as weakness. If you're the good guy, you don't compromise with evil and everyone they don't like has to be the bad guy. You're suppose to get everything you want while the bad guys get nothing because the West thinks they're the good guys, everything they do is for the good and is altruistic therefore they should get to do whatever they want. It makes it look like the US is in a position of strength.

Why doesn't the US just stop having any relations with China? That's what cancelling and decoupling from China means. The reason why they use that kind of terminology is because it coveys the US doesn't need anyone and Americans want to believe that's the case. Why are rare earths from China so frustrating to the US. No one is preventing the US and West from processing their own. The reason why they're dependent on China is they ain't going to find them anymore cheaper than from China. Anywhere else the price is going to skyrocket meaning everything they use to make something that requires rare earths is going to cost them even more. That's why they're getting them from China. But to admit that, it shows American politicians have failed the American people because they perpetuate this narrative that the US needs no one while everyone else needs the US. When the American voter finds out that's a lie, US politicians get voted out of office. That's why US politicians talk as if China is putting a gun to the US's heads so it doesn't look like it's their fault and the US is a victim therefore not get voted out of office. Everything they're not doing that Americans expect is because China s putting a gun to their heads hence not their fault.

This just shows the US is two-faced. On one hand one side is realistic but that's the one that keeps quiet and everything is done behind closed doors. The other has to lie to the American voter because politicians have to make Americans out to be the hero like in a movie. In movies good wins and evil loses outright. There is no compromise. Ultimately it's about getting Americans to vote to keep the system they have now where the few benefit the most. Like I've been saying, the West sees the writing on the wall that it's over for them. That's why they're taking this Hail Mary on foreign policy.

Part of me thinks Macron brought VDL with him to Beijing primarily to prove to Xi that all the horror stories he told him about her are true. So their dialogue would go something like this:

Xi: Macron, wtf? We had a gentleman’s agreement and you go back on your word just like that?

Macron: It wasn’t me, I swear! It’s that VDL CIA agent going behind all our backs!

Xi: A real man doesn’t blame his failures on others.

One Beijing meeting later…

Macron: Well?

Xi: You have my respects, Macron. Any my sympathies. I have already reached my lifetime exposure limit of VDL, let’s get out of here and go somewhere nice before I start getting ideas about borrowing Kim’s hounds and anti aircraft cannon firing squad.
