This is laughable response from China. When was the last time China ever enforced a so called sanction? Never ever. Yes, they have stopped buying or selling items to countries in the past. But never against individuals or organizations.

I did argue a day ago how China's response will be weak because it is in their best interest to keep the status quo and focus on the economy. Taiwan and US are so anti-China right now and so very much afraid of the future, that they would probably prefer the war now rather than later.

Its sad to see China behaving this weak but that's their best option now.
Ok pretty sure this is China's response

Trying to deflect to a weaker response by china in order to make your point but didn't work. Id say inspecting ships in the strait is a more aggressive and befitting response than the sanction.

If they were really doing it, properly, it would be a huge news right now. They just announced it but no evidence they are actually boarding Taiwanese ships to enforce their so called inspection.

Just 2 planes and 3 ships around Taiwan? Thats too low.

Just one ship to do inspection of the huge Taiwan strait seems inadequate. That ship also seems to be hanging around near Chinese mainland coast. Not even in the middle of strait.

Dude they just announced it. Even if they do board, I doubt Taiwan media would report it. They probably just say china never boarded to save face.

This is just one small step away from a full blockade.

This is announcing a blockade lite, if they choose to do so, whenever China Coast Guard wants to.

:D

So what are people's opinions, when or if, China decides to randomly inspect a vessel in the Taiwan Strait, once in a while?

Will the United States Navy get involved?

My belief is no, the Americans will not get involved.

Two reasons.

1) China already laid the bait with Marcos Jr, and they wanted no part in escalating that.

2) The most important Taiwan ports kind of face the mainland, and the Taiwan ports on the east of the island are kind of small. Close the Taiwan Strait to transit, that will basically close the ports. If the Americans show up inside the strait, they would actually would be in artillery range, lol. Set up a closing of both ends of the strait, that would be creating the kill zone for any intruder or hostile actor, should be liquidated, as the Russians like to say. Closing both ends of the strait, and blockading that single northern port, that is almost a total blockade. Those two ports on the east not big enough.

It will not take much to get right there for this.

Also use your brain cargo ships don’t usually go through the middle of the strait.

Apparently the whole China is interfering in Western elections started because conservatives in Five Eyes countries were losing elections because citizens of Chinese ethnic background were voting against them so it had to be China was influencing them and not because conservatives in Western countries tend to be racist.
