this is the SINO defence forum
Ie. a forum devoted to talking most things Chinese defence related, including geopolitics and global diplomacy since China is a player on that scale. Russia is currently China's most significant ally and its pretty obvious members here have taken an intenese interest in the Ukraine conflict, as well as Russia's broader geopolitical confrontation with NATO. Afterall, just look at how many members take offence at labeling Russia a junior partner of China, nevermind "pawn or vassal state."

Also, by nonchalant, I did not mean members here didn't consider it newsworthy, a cursory look at threads when the announcement broke would disprove that. (Now stating the obvious, of course its not on the level of Pelosi visiting Taiwan) What I meant by nonchalant is simply the generosity in which members were willing to hype up Russia's standing in Europe despite Finland joining NATO and how it even works in its favor, when I'm sure China wouldn't get some bullish assessments if similar events were to unfold in its periphery.

I would argue that Pakistan and North Korea have been consistent allies to China for decades, Russia is the most powerful ally, although it is the weakest of the three great powers.

Ukraine don't want to do any land concession to parley... There's no end beside grinding of the entire country by Russia if they don't change state of minds..

haha, with what Troops is Russia going to takeover all of Ukraine? Just 300 thousand? Ukraine is literally dragging people off the streets and training them like Crazy with Nato weapons. 1 million from Ukraine vs 300K from Russia will always result in Russian defeat. Ukraine has no problem with Money, Manpower or weapons thanks to the west.

On the otherhand Russia is too afraid to even call this a war and mobilize troops. how did Russian public become so less patriotic?

Russia needs to stop being Afraid of Public backlash and start mobilizing their reserves upto 1 million minimum. Or they will lose all of Ukraine including Crimea.

Uh huh. So now you say the Russians have 300k troops but a couple days ago you said they need to a huge mass mobilization because the Ukrainians formed up 40k troops for their spring offensive. So what is it? Do the Russians have troops or are you going to start insisting the 40k Ukrainian space marines will reach Beijing by the end of April.

China should ban more Teslas in various sensitive areas.

I agree that Russia remains a great power, despite its best attempts in Ukraine to prove otherwise. France ... is probably no longer a great power. But my point was that it continues to think of and conduct itself in the world as one, and this has implications for her relations with China. France is probably the western country that is least likely to cooperate with American attempts to leverage European nations against China, because it has a particular sense of its own interests and civilizational destiny that remains distinct from that of the American hegemon and the amorphous "community of nations" that it purports to represent. To a greater extent than other western nations, France is likely to remain a nation that China can deal with and, as an influential nation within the EU, it is a relationship worth cultivating.
I dont think your understanding of Europe interms of geography and values is correct. Is France more European than Turkey? I dont think so. Ukrainian, Georgian, Balkans who are Europeans do they feel closer to France or Turkey?
once you settle who is European than decide who acts on behalf of Europe to make it great. Turkey only country that stand out from its participation in Korean war to Afghanistan to is recent interaction in Mideast and Africa. France never acted for Europe thats why Israel and Turkey can much easily sell weopons into Europe than France. France is pure luck of post war aviation integration which is already moving away due to higher components, software development and material that is coming from outside France that is reflected in French trade deficits. France demographic trend is such that if it continue that path it will lose what ever influence it has in EU and will enjoy those street protests. Russia always acts against European interests so it should not be considered part of it.
