Its been a happening month for China. Putin and Xi enjoying good bro chemistry in Moscow. Russia is taking China's peace proposal seriously. Zelensky is also seeking China's attention for his own interests. US and the West are making butthurt noises. The Saudi-Iran deal. Everyone nowadays is talking about China, China, China. It pretty much confirms that China's diplomacy carries some serious weight.

But where is that Superpowa India? That last G20 summit that India hosted as president was surely quickly forgotten by everyone. Just look at Lavrov at the G20 summit in India. He looked quite awkward when he was there.

Tsai is just going to New York and Los Angeles. She is not going to Washington DC. This implies that she is going to the US for a vacation, not on an official duty. Whoever she meets there, doesn't count as anything official. Because again, she is technically not there for official duty. Unless of course, she suddenly detours to DC from New York. Or she and US officials meet in an official capacity.

Looking at Tsai's trip itinerary, it looks like a PR stunt to say: "Oh Tsai is going to the US! She means business!". I think Tsai is chickening out of anymore direct provocations. Her political career can't afford anymore of it, after what the last one did to her. If Tsai's trip goes as planned, I think there shouldn't be any big fireworks from China. Just more of the usual diplomatic protests.
Everyone will report it as it would be an official trip. Round the clock interviews, high profile meetings, called "President Tsai", western propaganda doing a victory lap etc

So maybe it would be unofficial, but for the 99.999% of the population it would be seen as official

They are laying low until the 2024 elections. McCarty already said that he decided not to go there for now (read between the lines, Taiwan elections), but that he can go in the future and that China can't dictate to him what to do.

They want to secure another DPP term 100%. The population wouldn't quite like another PLA exercise like the previous one of august last year, 1 year before the election, and that might elect KMT if happened. And the US doesn't want that.

They have clear continuity of more people self-identified as Taiwanese and the potential for DPP to rule forever, they don't want to be rash, they want to cement that first. After cementing that in 2024, that's the time for them to act.

At that time, China could only intensify and prolong the previous operation during the Pelosi visit, since the first one didn't deter similar behavior from the US, and then the US will maybe directly intervene to "stop" the blockade or something.

With the intensity of the US provocations, it's obviously clear how much they want this war to happen sooner than later. I think if McCarty wouldn't be enough, they might even send a Vice President or summon the Taiwan president directly to the DC. Or that last option will be first.

The Ukrainian 10-point "peace plan" can be briefly described: complete capitulation of Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has praised Beijing's 12-point peace roadmap for Ukraine, during a summit with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

The Chinese leader is making a three-day visit to Moscow, and today's official talks took place at the Kremlin.

“We believe that many of the provisions of the peace plan put forward by China are consonant with the Russian stance and can be taken as a foundation for a peaceful settlement when they are ready for it in the West and in Kiev. However, so far we have not observed such readiness on their part,” Putin stated.

The Chinese president said Beijing continues to strictly adhere to the UN principles over the conflict between Moscow and Kiev, maintaining a balanced position. Xi also reiterated his call on all parties to exercise restraint and for a return to negotiations to seek a diplomatic solution to hostilities.

“We’re always for peace and dialogue, and we firmly stand on the right side of history,” Xi added.

This Xi-Putin meeting and it's results pretty much signals that Russia is to become a junior partner of China, China's Canada, and basically becoming (non-PR version) an economic colony.

Russia will become wealthy, now how that wealth will be distributed among its people, that's another matter. People might be tempted to say "Not China's problem!", but human psychology doesn't work like that. With this new arrangement, China should aim to encourage/push Russia towards a more equal distribution of wealth that what they have currently
