I think someone is going to get demoted for allowing an untrained/unprofessional standing so close to a CIWS during live firing exercise. Hope her ear didn't burst.
Not the first time either. Maybe they think it shows how powerful those weapons are.

Wtf, no hearing protection? I mean we know it’s a systemic problem in the PLA, but at least give the reporter one.
That's what I am wondering, too. Such a lack of professionalism and common sense about safety. That's why I think someone is going to get demoted for this incident. If the journalist's ear becomes damaged, someone could be discharged dishonorably.

The above posters are quick to make hasty remarks without watching the full video. What you people have seen is a composition of 2 still footage of video, combined into an image to render as if the reporter was standing on the open deck next to the 1130.

The real footage is below. Girls will always acted that way when they hear a "bang!!!" even when stayed indoor. And she was unprepared, still talking when then guns began to fire. (And the cameraman hold the camera steady unshaken, so was the sailor).

No, we watched the full video. That location is right behind the gun with a open door and I’m sure a lot of the sound transfers through the metallic hull as well, would be incredibly loud in such a confined space. The sound of the gun even blows out the cameras mic and you can hear the static.

and if I’m understanding her correctly she is saying that it’s standard op for the guy to have the door open observing the gun while it fires? That seems like a even greater argument to have mandatory hearing protection.
