Pakistani police surround Imran Khan's home

Ousted former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has been charged with violating the country’s anti-terrorism laws for allegedly threatening a female judge and two senior police officials during a rally in Islamabad on Saturday night. Video reportedly shot at his home on Sunday evening shows police surrounding the residence hours after a police report was filed against him.

In his speech during Saturday’s rally, Khan threatened to file charges of his own against Judge Zeba Chaudhry, two police agencies, the Pakistani Election Commission, and other political opponents, warning they should prepare to face “consequences” over their abysmal treatment of his chief of staff, Shahbaz Gill. He had organized the rally in Islamabad’s F-9 Park in solidarity with Gill, who was arrested last week on sedition charges.

Later that night, the country’s digital media watchdog, called PEMRA, forbid satellite stations from airing the speech – or any future live addresses from the ex-prime minister – without a time-delay mechanism “to ensure effective monitoring and editorial control.”

Khan has been “continuously targeting state institutions by leveling baseless accusations and spreading hate speech through his provocative statements against state institutions and officers,” PEMRA explained in its directive on preemptively censoring the politician. Khan’s so-called “hate speech” was “prejudicial to the maintenance of law and order and is likely to disturb public peace and tranquillity,” they claimed.

Looks like Imran is going to be purged right before the Pakistani election on Oct 12. Guess they had quite the inspiration from the Neocon Dems moves against Trump not so long ago.

Not sure there will be many volunteers willing to go there days. Chasing the Chinese dream seem more achievable than living the American dream. The lowest of the low income groups is decreasing in China while growing in the US.
Long term future prospects for the USA seem to be heading towards mad max while in China, they are trending towards a future that the west can only dream of, only that it’s not the American dream but it going to be the destiny of Chinas revival made real

Reports are that PTI supporters surrounded IK's house, and then the police denied they were deployed to arrest him (in other words, the police got scared lolz.) Who knows, maybe they'll try again. They'll probably be another dumb trial and some silly verdict.

More importantly, streets were blocked the moment people thought he was about to be arrested. PTI also announced they'll shut down cities if IK is arrested. That's the first sign I've seen of an actual civil disobedience campaign, which IK is too soft to declare himself. And that's kinda been my only problem with him this whole time...

Rant on:

Contrary to the opinion of many people in Pakistan, IK is not a "radical." All he's asking from the bureaucracy/judiciary/army/politicians is that they should 'do their frekkin job.' Apparently, the status quo in Pakistan can't even tolerate that. "How dare someone tell us to do our jobs! Off with his head!" Also, IK is technically neither a "reformist" nor a "revolutionary." In order to qualify for those titles, you have to demand a paradigm shift, a complete change in thought and the status quo. E.g. People like Iqbal or Jinnah were reformists, and our prophets were revolutionaries i.e. they directly challenged the economic/governmental/theological foundations. But that isn't what IK is doing (he should, but he isn't.) His entire manifesto is very modestly defined by the laws and paradigms which already exist. He hasn't demanded any actual reformation. All he's asking for is their actual implementation. That's why he's yelling about things like "rule of law". That's not radical. It's like people yelling "black lives matter!" (lolz, duh!) That's not a demand. That's not even a call to action. You might as well be yelling "water is wet!" Only in countries as messed up as Pakistan is asking for "rule of law" considered 'radical' or 'revolutionary'.... sigh........ baby steps, I guess.

Rant off.

Bro can the junior officer led a coup against the gov't and Senior officer? There seem to be a Deep state apparatus inside the Army higher echelon, thinking more of cozy job and financial incentive after retirement rather than urgent reform that is needed. So corruption had been institutionalized?
