You joke but in America its a thing called civil fortiture. Police can legally take your cash, cars, house, etc if it was suspected you earned it via illegal gains such as drug monies, or they stop you for speeding but see a wad of $10k cash in your car open search, even if they made a mistake and you turned out to be innocent they often do not give it back unless you sue and win, but may states dont let you sue them
