I follow a guy on Quora. His semi-joke idea was giving Scotland and Northern Ireland their independence, adding England to the USA as the 51st state, and giving the UK's seat in the P5 to India. Thus the Uncle Sam gets an extra economic output of 3 trillion dollars, 1.4 billion people gets representation in the P5, Ireland becomes unified, Scotland becomes independent, the EU gets Scotland as a member and the UN gets a P5 member who doesn't parrot America.

Only possible if they demonstrate their military prowess in some sort of major war, the P5 didn't get their seats for just having big populations. Cue Chinese memes about missions to join UNSC.

The original security council is there because those countries made the greatest sacrifices and effort to stop fascism in WW2. India was not part of that.
