House Democrats sang God Bless America on the Capitol steps as the chants of protesters could be heard from the Supreme Court after the decision to strike down Roe v Wade was announced.
“It is almost comical how absolutely f***ing useless Democrats are at doing anything to stop the extremists bent on destroying people’s rights,” Noel Berry tweeted.
“Not the time for kumbaya, Dems,” Bloomberg columnist Tim O’Brien added.
“You performative f***s. This is fiddling while Rome burns and you are Nero,” another Twitter user said.
“Hey Siri, what songs did the leaders of the Weimar republic sing while Hitler was being sworn in as chancellor?” Oliver Willis wrote.
“WTAF are y’all doing stop this — no one wants to hear you sing. Please DO something,” Michelle Kinney wrote.
“What are you gonna do, sing about it? Read poems? Send emails asking for money? Eat s**t you fraudulent relics,” another Twitter user said.

“I cannot believe this is real. I’m sorry but they are so stupid it hurts,” Chris Stedman added.

Iran's economy is (nominal) about $200 billion. At PPP figures it is $1 trillion.

Saudi Arabia's (nominal) is $700 billion.
At PPP figures it is $1.74 trillion. Also don't forget that half the world depends on its oil.

As you can see, this isn't about economics but about Russia's attempts for a power play in the region. If it was truly about economics, either Iran + Saudi Arabia are invited or only Saudi Arabia.

This isn't me about being a SA fanboy but on China's diplomatic priorities and commitments to the region. As for SCO, I don't rate that highly Iran's inclusion in it. In my opinion Iran is merely the first step before getting (possibly in this decade) the real prize, Saudi Arabia + other Gulf States.

As for Mexico and Turkey, I am ok with them. Not everyone can be China friendly and the group would need to demonstrate acceptance of different countries in order to prove that it is a true global south multilateral grouping. If not, you might as well as call it Russia's + China's friends group and move on..

That's probably how Chinese officials will evaluate this new idea from Russia and then promptly move to shut it down. As it stands, imo this proposal isn't in China's interests.

Iran GDP is difficult to measure, as are all sanctioned countries including China.

I don't think any of the Arab countries is a prize, trying to please them is just throwing good money after bad as Russians found out with Egypt and US is finding out with Saudis. They will go with whichever way the wind blows because their countries depend on foreigners for so much - even for food to stay alive.

Nonetheless it is indeed a bad proposal. Russia trying to make a new G8 is showing that they're annoyed about being kicked out of the old G8. China never gives a shit about being kicked out of a group, the correct response is to get stronger such that the old group is rendered irrelevant, not whine about it.

Social conservatives who have been trying to reverse the 1973 Roe vs. Wade ruling for decades promised to build on their efforts by pushing for abortion bans in every state or antiabortion legislation at the federal level, particularly if they make gains in Congress in November’s elections.
Former Vice President Mike Pence said Friday that social conservatives in the post-Roe era “must not rest and must not relent until the sanctity of life is restored to the center of American law in every state in the land.”
The ruling also proved to the antiabortion movement and social conservatives that their trust in former President Trump paid off. Initially skeptical of the former president’s antiabortion bona fides, the movement backed him when he promised during his campaign to appoint judges who opposed the Roe decision. His three appointees all signed on to the Friday decision.
“Thank you, President Trump, for keeping your word and putting good Justices on the Supreme Court,” conservative radio host Erick Erickson tweeted.

Iran's GDP numbers are not very reliable as both Iran and the west fabricate numbers in an information war. The exchange rate is also part of the economic war. PPP and raw industrial production numbers are much more interesting. What's clear is that Iran is an industrialised nation similar to Turkey, but they happen to have lots of oil and gas. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and Iraq are agricultural societies with lots of petro dollars. For example, Iran is the second largest car and steel producer in West Asia, after Turkey. Iran even developed the capability to launch satellites into orbit before South Korea.

The G7 countries often describe themselves as the leading industrialised nations. In reality, they are post industrial societies. What really matters for the power of a nation in a war are traditional metrics. Coal and steel production, manufacturing capacity, fertiliser and ammunition production capacity etc. If Russia is proposing a list of industrialised nations that are not aligned with the west, Iran makes sense as the weakest one among them. Petro states with little human capital or industrial power do not belong in such a group.
Don't forget Iran's shipbuilding and pharmaceutical industries. Iran builds its own oil tankers and has a large navy. It is also mostly self-sufficient in medicine production, has produced its own covid vaccines and is surprisingly on the frontiers of biotech. Moreover it has the 3rd and 2nd largest oil and gas reserves respectively and the industrial capacity to easily ramp up production.
Iran would easily be in the top 20 or even 15 economies if it weren't for the sanctions.

I recall someone had said "This is a beautiful sight to behold" when Hong Kong was rampaged by criminals and thugs back in 2019...

Ah! Nancy Pelosi is the one who said that.

Looking at the chaos in the USA due to the recent Roe vs Wade overturn ruling, Nanc- Nancy, where the hell are you no- Oh.

Looks like she's busy with her stock trading again somehwere...
