some of you might be sick and tired of these updates of mine on price capping, but the situation is ever-changing, and I think it's interesting to see this weird chess match live

apparently next week the EU commission will officially propose putting an 80-90€ price cap only on russian methane from Jamal, Soyuz and Fratellanza pipelines.
the official motive is that as soon as the price of gas futures

in the early weeks of june, russia announced that it was having technical issues pumping the gas, making the price jump up to the current levels (125€). EU authorities believe that russia is manipulating the price by withholding the gas
the proposal hinges on the assumption by EU authorities that russia doesn't want to stop selling the gas, especially since it cannot be easily diverted to asian pipelines

How would it work though? If the price is above the cap they're going to subsidize it or a quota to reduce demand?

China expresses concerns over Indigenous women's rights in U.S., Canada, Australia

China on Monday expressed its concerns over violations of rights of the Indigenous women and girls in the United States, Canada and Australia.

A Chinese delegation made clear the stance when speaking at an interactive dialogue following the presentation of a report by Reem Aslam, UN's special rapporteur on violence against women, its causes and consequences, during the ongoing 50th regular session of UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

In her report, the special rapporteur pointed out the violence the Indigenous women involved in politics in the U.S. have been subjected to, the obstacles for Indigenous women and girls in the U.S. to seek justice, the high incarceration rate of Indigenous women in Australia, the genocide Canada has committed against its Indigenous population and the gender discrimination in the Indian Act of Canada.

Citing such violations of human rights, the Chinese delegation expressed grave concerns.

The U.S., Canada and Australia have a long history of adopting policies of ethnic cleansing and cultural genocide against their Indigenous peoples, and serious and systematic racial discrimination still exists today, said the Chinese delegation, adding that the Indigenous women and girls in these countries are oppressed, discriminated against, and at serious risk of violence.

China urges these countries to face up to historical crimes and today's problems, take practical measures to eliminate discrimination and violence against Indigenous women and girls, conduct investigations into violent acts to hold perpetrators accountable, and offer relief and compensation to victims, the delegation said.

The Chinese side calls on the UN human rights mechanisms to keep paying attention to the aforementioned issues, it added.

my understanding is that they will try to force russia to sell at those prices since russia either sells the gas destined to europe or it doesn't.
from the commission pov russia would be better off selling at the dictated price than not sell it altogether

They want to implement something like a buyer's cartel, they assume if the price is above the price cap they will all pledge not to buy Russian gas.
Europeans are once again delusional and want to play chicken on energy security.

EU, China Aim for Talks in Next Few Weeks, Ambassador Says

  • EU wants meetings on real bilateral issues, tangible benefits
  • April summit was described as ‘a dialog of the deaf’
I think they understand that maybe they have underestimated that Europe, the Union, is becoming a power in it’s own right, and not just an open market,” he said, adding that it’s clearly in China’s interest to maintain access to Europe’s markets.
There’s no prospect of the investment deal being ratified at the moment, with Borrell saying in April that “as long as Chinese countermeasures will be in place there is no prospect for the ratification of the Comprehensive Agreement on Investment to move ahead.” However, Chapuis suggested that China could unilaterally implement the provisions of the draft agreement if it wanted to send a positive signal to Europe and it companies.
He also issued a warning that Europe expects China to open its market more or lose some of the access that Chinese firms have to the single market,

that the European Council last week adopted a new regulation on public purchasing.
Eurocrats think they can speak to China from a position of strength or something. Maybe China will politely tell them to F**k off this time?

Your forgot "her" other recent posts sourced from here :)

Alright fess up, who is it? Can you please rename twitter account to SDF #1 fan
To be fair to the pretty lady ( i am a sucker for pretty ladies lol) this is a public forum not a paid site, so unless thats changed there is nothing that we can do

And after reading some of her tweets, all of her posts seems to be very pro China and to lesser extent russia, so she is either 1. a patriotic poster like most of us here, 2. A CCP agent spreading propaganda in twitter quoting sdf and using a pretty face
3. Or one of us here lol,
I don't see any harm she is quoting sdf on twitter to be honest

Highly doubt it is 3. to be honest, not to be disrespectful, but female geopolitics and China watchers are few and far between.
