I read in Zelensky not a bad man, perhaps a brave man, but certainly not a big man, caught at the center of big events.

I read in him a conflict between, on the one hand, sadness at the destruction being wrought upon his country and indignation at the Russians for daring to invade it, but on the other hand, enjoyment of the adulation being showered upon him by foreign powers for playing the role they assigned him in their effort to use his country to bleed Russia dry.

Do you believe that most Ukrainians are eager to surrender to Russia, but Zelensky somehow is stopping them?

I QUOTED an article by a Lithuanian (who grew up in the USSR) that's extremely critical of Russia and Russians.
I did NOT write that I completely agreed with it. Indeed, anyone who's competent at reading English
(many writers here seem nearly illiterate in English) should have noticed MY CRITCISMS of parts of the article.
In particular, I reject her dichotomy between "Ukrainians are Western and good" and "Russians are non-Western and bad."
It's wrong to blame Russians alone for all Soviet war crimes; Ukrainians committed their share of war crimes too.

If I quoted Putin, then would the idiotic pro-Russian crowd here conclude that I must completely agree with Putin?

I speak Russian and have been in Russia. I know many Russians who are much more informed and more critical of
conditions in Russia than the breathless Chinese acolytes here who eagerly absorb every word of Russian state propaganda.
Many Chinese here seem eager to corroborate--unwittingly--some of the worst stereotypes of Sinophobic propaganda.

That's great, why don't you tell those Russians to their face how you and the West think of them? Did you guys all of a sudden had a change of heart, or were you just hiding all that preconceived racism all this time? Yes, everyone that doesn't agree with you posting your racist, borderline Nazi agenda is a fanatic. I don't know which country you are from, but imagine that Russia is replaced with the name of your own country, and Russians replaced with your countrymen. How would you feel to be called an evil barbarian? Let me tell you something, everything you see that the West is doing to Russia will easily be replicated to any non-Western nation, including China. Evidently, you have NOT read what I write. Instead, you prefer to believe others' hateful LIES about what I write.
Note that practically none of my haters has ever QUOTED IN CONTEXT what I write. They just lie about it.

Propaganda? It may appear so to a forum apparently dominated by deluded people who mostly believe that
Russia's absolutely good and right and Ukraine's absolutely evil and wrong is the truth, the whole truth, and
nothing but the truth.

In reality, I have strongly criticized both Russia and the USA (much, though not all, of NATO tends to follow the USA).
I make no apology for declaring that Russia's invasion of Ukraine is legally and morally wrong and should be opposed.
Like most Ukrainians, I prefer to see a viable independent Ukraine rather than Ukraine as a Russian conquest.
That does not mean I would insist, as Kyiv does now, upon restoring Ukraine to its pre-2014 borders.
I can understand China's adopting a Realpolitik position of neutrality (albeit with a pro-Russian tilt).

You show no comprehension of the brutality and corruption that Putin allows to flourish in Russia.
And I am speaking of Russia long before this war. I would stand with my Russian friends against Putin and you.
