I can't locate the original text, but it looks like AVIC Changhe has been developing a new military helicopter since early 2019, and the maiden flight has recently taken place.

The text is padded with fluff, but the useful bits seem to imply the new helicopter adopts an unconventional layout in order to achieve enhanced performance and combat effectiveness.

Sounds like a speculative program of an advanced design funded by Changhe, with the goal to attract interest from PLA and lay the foundation for it to become an officially-sanctioned program of PLA (...牵引军方需求、促进后续新型号立项、补足直升机“国家队”在新型直升机市场能力短板...).

Or a demonstrator. My guess is the idea is to mature the component technologies in a design first before adapting to different applications and more specialized design requirements. The right way to read this might be to see this aircraft as a design platform.

Taiwan never reported J-20. More likely than not they’ve already flown though.

I have little doubt they have flown j20 there. The question is if they flew it with lunesberg lens down and if Taiwan air defense would actually report spotting it if they did spot one.
