I just waded through the thread here since I've been gone. I'm a bit disappointed. Folks citing reddit...how far have we fallen.
I stopped posting “updates” because I just don’t trust much of the “news” that I’m seeing. The whole information environment has become so, obviously, politicized that it’s made me start to consider the less obvious politicization of all news I’ve read, previously.

I mean, I‘ve been educated to be an expert reader, but this level of blatantly obvious partisanship has reinforced my understanding of just how value-laden, identity-bound, and teleologically-driven information-generation, information-dissemination, and information-processing are!

Information processing comprises the initial perceptions of “information”, the impressions derived from these perceptions, the interpretations conceptualized in response to these impressions, and the resulting expressions constructed to communicate these interpretations (our take/perspective/POV). This occurs at the individual level, and is I think, the source of much of our disappointment, here, as we expect (or hope) that others, here, will apply a more critical and impartial version of this process to the multitude of multi-media sources of “information” to which we are exposed. However, that ain’t happ’nin’!

Not really.
As a democracy Finland aligned its economy very much with the West, primarily the other European market economies.
Finland's export to the Soviet Union was on average only around 15% of its yearly total during the entire Cold War.
As the only market economy with normal bilaterally trade with the Soviet Union Finland did benefit somewhat economically but nothing as extreme as stated above.
It was a whole other story politically. Neutrality in the strictest sense of the word. Both externally and internally, never taking any position to openly offend the Soviet Union the slightest. Basically behaving politely in every way.
No doubt such a solution might be Putin's wet dream for Ukraine but I can't see the last part happening. Neither before or now.
15% is quite a lot for a single country, don't you think? Chinese exports to US isn't anywhere close to this amount, yet Americans think they were the sole contributors to China's success and China should grovel, thank them, and obey every single one of their demands. Also, considering the massive shift in global events which we are witnessing today, there is a possibility that Ukraine may very well end up Finlandized - at least what's left of it. But it's still too early to tell.

I’m starting to wonder if Putin‘s being told the truth about the progress of the invasion. I keep remembering a scene in a movie about the ‘67 Arab/Israeli War (I think) in which the Nasser’s high-ranking advisors were reporting glowing successes on the ground and advancing model tanks on a map while, in fact, they were getting their asses kicked. Not to say that the Russians are getting their asses kicked, but that Putin strikes me as the type to surround himself with those that tell him “good news”!

Russia needs another 100k troops deployed. The current number committed is far too low for invading such a big country.

It is already a "miracle" that the Russian army has made so much progress with so few troops

Just heard a claim that Putin just detained the head of FSB under house arrest for giving him false information regarding the war yesterday, so i guess that's a real possibility
