This is what those units were waiting for:

Maxar satellite imagery was collected at 10.56am this morning, showing a large deployment of Russian ground forces, containing hundreds of military vehicles, heading northeast of the Ukrainian city of Ivankiv and moving in the direction of Kyiv—approximately 40 miles away.

The convoy extended for more than 3.25 miles and contained fuel, logistics and armoured vehicles such as tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, self-propelled artillery.

Meanwhile, Kiev's mayor just reported the city is completely surrounded (i.e. no reinforcements possible)

Let’s hope they have air defences to cover it otherwise we are going to see a knockoff version of Iraqi Highway 2.0

Those vehicles just seem like sitting ducks but Ukraine doesn’t have any forces up there to do damage.

From what I remember, they did take into account cluster munition cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. This was a paper gaming China's invasion of Taiwan where the US intervenes. They tabulated what it would take to keep US airbases suppressed. The premise was that China would have to bomb them almost every day.
Cluster munition is difficult to clean up It takes some time to do it manually shooting it one by one from APC or IFV There is no other way not the least automated one. It will keep the field closed. And China has submunition cluster bomb where it will release hundred if not thousand of these pesky little bomblet

This is the first time a modern military has had to deal with drones. We're learning how drone warfare plays out.

I agree suppression of Ukrainian airfields has been poor. Then again, you don't need much airstrip to operate a drones.

Two videos have been released, I suspect both came from today or yesterday. One came from the Zhytomyr region. Today it was hit by ballistic missiles, and it is the region I suspect we've seen Russian fight jets operating today according to a video.

There are still questions, like why the TB2s have been absent from action until now. Russian vehicles were driving in from Belarus single file and reached Kiev virtually unopposed, that could have been a Turkey shoot if any drones were operating.

I think the column in Zhytomyr probably advance too far too fast. They're making rapid advance in the south, but they outran the EW or air support.

Russians use Krasukha which has 200km plus jamming range. They have them deployed in bases in Syria where they counter the TB2 before I believe. Probably been the case so far and that's why TB2 have not seen in action much.

Kiev is not that important to Russians. The people there are too hostile to Russia anyway. The main goal is Kharkiv and Mariupol to break Ukraine's back. These lie east of the Dnipro river which means, without bridge, Ukraine can't get men and weapons east of Dnipro river.
I think Kiev is being targeted because it will break Ukrainian morale, which is still to be seen. The Ukrainians have held up better so far than what Russia or even the West expected.

That's probably what happened. Or some staffer or intern put in some details they should not have. I could see someone looking around for figures to go with the announcement since none were given and then prompted screamed at by their manager.
I doubt it being by some staffer or even hacked at all.

As I said in another post, it is easy to fake such screen dumps using MS Word or PowerPoint. I can make it in 5 minutes.
