It seems to be an unofficial thing. WS-15 has, by some, made an entrance in June ( as huitong updates in that good blog ) though being paired with a WS-10/AL-31 series.

If this guy is proven right then that means that the engine (test) of June was a success and China has decided to go all the way. If the engines continue their success streak then WS-15 has indeed become a reality.

What I find odd though is he claiming Y-20 used WS-18. It ought to be WS-20. In fact, I'd like to know why he thinks its "definitely" not WS-20.

Nice, everything seems on track for the WS-15 to enter service by 2025.

No likely change in weapons bay. The second seat would eat into the fuselage fuel cells ( don't most fighter jets have fuselage fuel cells behind the pilot cockpit ? Why should J20 be an exception?)

The frame between the front and back seat looks to be strange. If the frame is inside the canopy, it should not have been the same color as the primer. If it is outside, it means that the canopy is in two pieces with edges being exposed to radar, bad for stealth. This is also against the other photo that indicated one piece canopy.

One of the reason to keep developing WS-18 could be for future replacement for existing air-frames that use DP-30s. To certify WS-18 for that purpose, it has to be installed on a new Y-20 air-frame that is identical to the ones made for DP-30s.

So I believe that there are air-frames that are simultaneously testing WS-18 and WS-20. I think Tang Changhong actually said so not long ago that was reported in this forum.

You are correct, but I think there are two frames: One external one with the same yellow primer and one inner which was visible in the head-on image

I hope the external frame is made of composite or metal covered by meta-material, because it would be very difficult to have the right saw tooth treatment in this small scale if it is metal.
