Indonesia is for sure will get nuclear subs too, the option is either from China or Russia
Normally I would say Russia because it wouldnt want to be seen as taking sides or anything.

However Australian official declaration that it is a US puppet ally against China, might give it the final push to go for Chinese subs.

Man, this security pact will be seen badly in the ASEAN region. It still shows how these Anglo countries dont understand ASEAN. It should make China's job easier at courting them and convincing them that it is the US and its puppets that threaten stability and not China.

Actually good news for China from a diplomatic point of view

Btw maybe it could also go for european subs (I find it highly unlikely though)

This is more like Australia paying the US and UK $90bn protection money to assuage its own irrational red dawn fear fantasy.
The funny thing is if they had just kept their mouths shut they would have been fine; China would have forgotten they even existed. But now they're perfectly committed to making their nightmares a reality.

It doesn't mean much positively or negatively. The only determinant of geopolitics is the balance of power, and Indonesia and other ASEAN countries will ally with China when they see the balance of power shift decisively in its favour. It has nothing to do with "new" alliances or other such fluff.

Oh I didnt mean about alliances. I meant about the perception of who wants to destabilize the region.

This plays an important role in their attitudes towards external powers. They wont show it openly, but they will make under-the-table moves to counter-balance such disruptive actions. ASEAN doesn't want to become Middle East 2

I will follow closely ASEAN's reaction to that event in the coming months

Can Australia even afford $90bn for subs after China curbstomps its economy?

This is a shockingly shit deal Biden has done, building a meaningless alliance of its existing vassals at the expense of massively alienating the EU at the precise time it seem to actually be making some headway in using its EU assets to create some distance between China and the EU with the CAI deal and Lithuanian drama.

Maybe Biden is indeed in Beijing’s pocket like Trump supports have been claiming all along!

The main drivers of the deal are Australia and America. Britain is just tagging along hoping to bag some sub contracts and also because America whistled for it.

If and when it actually comes time to throw down, I’m sure their Darlings and carrier will break down on the way to the action and have to go home for repairs.
Try more like $200+ billion (apparently Australia wants to build a lot of the subs in country).

FBI lied and even omitted key statements from these poor girls when they were questioned with respect to the rapist coach they had during their time with U.S. Gymnastics. If FBI agents could willingly lie for a rapist instead of protecting their people how can we (non Americans) even begin to believe their sales pitch when it comes to national strategic issues like alleged Chinese-Americans Spies, Chinese gov't intrusions into their government and businesses. Lastly, why are their incompetent and corruption officials rarely if ever go to jail for obvious corruption and dereliction of duties. Is this what some Chinese liberals and western boot lickers want China to adopt?

Funny thing is, is that for Australia to advance as a nation, a red dawn scenario is entirely necessary to kill off this spirit of hatred and racism that has been embedded into Australia's overall psyche for centuries and kill it so f&*king hard that Australia will finally learn to behave on the world stage like a real nation because right now, they have never learnt what it is like to suffer like all those nations in the middle east and every where else that Australia has joined the USA in invading and harming/raping the people without any reprisals or any remorse what so ever. Hence nothing less then a red dawn and the overall rounding up the the rest of the Anglos in the nation so that they can be educated harshly on what the nation has done to other nations so that Australia can stop being stupid for a change and cease trying to lecture other nations on its so called values. Threaten to basically wipe them out if they have too since really, seeing Australia stumble into invasion after invasion in the middle east and committing atrocity after atrocity under the protection of the USA and having those fat heads in the government lecture other nations on human rights and the like, has made me hate them so much that nothing less then having these idiots drawn and quartered in public will be even remotely enough to make them finally understand that the age of western colonialism is DEAD. I apologies for the overall harshness of tone but really, seeing the government in Australia continuing to play themselves as victims when they are victimizing China like as though as it is Australia God given right has made me seriously pray for the day Australia finally gets its just deserts because the lies has gotten that stupid

I like to see Australia try to do that, because they as of now lack the competence to even try such a thing.

Kori Schake, head of foreign and defence policy at the American Enterprise Institute, said Wednesday’s deal would send a strong signal to Beijing.
It is “an elegant message, a reminder to China that Australia has the technological capabilities and alliance relationships that they could become a nuclear power if the threat China poses becomes so severe”
Naughty America. Nuclear proliferation isn't good for the world. It really seems to me that China rise has short-circuited their minds. Dont be racists and leave nuclear proliferation at the side because it is a dangerous can of worms once it is opened
