A bit disappointing hearing this coming from you. The same people lamenting war crimes of Taliban today were saying the same thing about Xinjiang, Syria, Libya, and even China as a whole not long ago. Are you telling me you believe in the lies about Uyghur concentration camps, cotton slave labour too?Only someone without a near and dear female would say something like this. Even if one doesn't have one, it should be easy to sympathize and feel concerned for them.
Afghan taliban aren't spartans. They are not heroes or liberators. I do understand that Taliban has been and will be, in some ways, useful to achieve Chinese (and Pakistani) geopolitical interests but that's it. Glorification of Taliban should not be entertained. The sins committed by Taliban are too ghastly. I hope the forum members all look at the various attacks and abuses done by Taliban all these years. For the Afghans under occupation (especially women), US and Afghan government have been objectively better than Taliban. That is indisputable.
The Taliban is so SO far from Chinese values.
The photos of Taliban in Tianjin was repulsive to me. The leaders of China indeed made the right decision for the time but giving the taliban treatment accorded to other foreign dignitaries still is ugly. I am saying this again because i noticed a general euphoria regarding the Taliban ascension in some other forums. I don't want SDF to be like that.
I don't trust anything that comes out of the western propaganda machine. Just a week ago the Anglo propaganda machine were claiming that the Taliban offensive was a bloody campaign of genocide and rape with bodies piling up by the thousands. They thought they would have months to invent evidence, turns out they didn't and their lies were exposed for the world to see.
There are aspects of Taliban rule in the past which are objectionable - like the treatment of religious and ethnic minorities and architectural sites. But they pale in comparison to the narco-warlord state they have replaced.
The correct approach is what the CCP is doing. Give them the credit for their well deserved victory, treat them as equals and work with them to rebuild their country.
