No its just pool games now for qualifications. Like round Robin competition. Top 4 progress from each group

Nah, it's still pool play to determine brackets. As long as China makes it into the brackets, all the losses before mean nothing. But so far, China lost 0-3 against Turkey and 0-3 against the US again so 0 for 2. If they don't turn it around, they won't make it to the brackets at all.
Aside from the Osaka shocker, Japan is doing well. Their women basketball team just upset France. I guess having black players in their 3x3 bball and normal bball teams help to raise the standard.

Perhaps the only consolation is the USA women's volleyball team is among the strongest team. They are the champions of the recent Volleyball Nations League.
It's still a disappointment because China's women team did beat them soundly when China came out with their full squad in the late stages of the competition.

Sharpshooters Yang Haoran and Yang Qian (the lady who won China's first gold) are called the Yang Yang team; that's just adorable! Anyway, they just beat the US in the gold medal match for 10 meter mixed air rifle.
Any reason why China doesn't have any athletes in the weightlifting events today? I'm guessing the lower weight category is because it's new and China didn't have anyone to qualify into it, but the heavier one China dominates it right?
