I am all for self defence, but that there unfortunately wasn’t self defence.

Did the racist idiot deserve it? Probably, but it’s not a good look, especially the sucker punch. If you are going to throw the first punch, at least throw it in the guys face rather than behind his back.

These people are out there hurling insults at Asians because they believe Asians won't hit back. The faster they are disabused of this notion, the better.

Xie Feng: The China-U.S. relationship is in a stalemate, fundamentally because some Americans portray China as an "imagined enemy"

2021/07/26

On 26 July, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng said during talks with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman that the China-US relationship is now in a stalemate and faces serious difficulties. Fundamentally, it is because some Americans portray China as an “imagined enemy".

For quite some time, when talking about conflict with China and challenges facing the U.S., the "Pearl Harbor moment" and the “Sputnik moment" have been brought up by some Americans.

What does it imply? Some international scholars, including some U.S. academics, perceive this as comparing China to Japan in the Second World War and the Soviet Union in the Cold War. It seems as if by making China an “imagined enemy", a national sense of purpose would be reignited in the U.S.

The hope may be that by demonizing China, the U.S. could somehow shift domestic public discontent over political, economic and social issues and blame China for its own structural problems. It seems that a whole-of-government and whole-of-society campaign is being waged to bring China down.

It is as if when China's development is contained, all U.S. domestic and external challenges would go away, and America would become great again and Pax Americana would continue to go on. The U.S. keeps making an issue with China. It's as if the U.S. side has nothing to talk about except about China. We urge the United States to change its highly misguided mindset and dangerous policy.

One can really appreciates the frankness and straightforward communication style demonstrated here by the Chinese side. It's a breath of fresh air compared to the usually wooden, cliche-filled Chinese official speaks.

Seriously, Asians should be more violent. Look how no one dears to be racist towards black people because blacks always go straight to violence when they feel racism is directed towards them.

If the situation were reverse, many would see just racist words as a justification to attack. There was an incident in the SF Bay Area caught on a home surveillance camera where an elderly Asian man taking a walk was attacked by three people. One of them was a kid. On the video, the kid was so giddy attacking an old man his laughter literally sounded like a girl while doing it. I would love to see something horrible happen to that kid.

I recently suffered an injury to my knee where for a while I could easily be knocked to floor if my balance was off in the slightest. I take hikes for exercise and I realized I'm vulnerable. So I bought online a hiking stick/self defense weapon. It has a "glass breaker" tip for such instances when you're hiking on a trail in the wilderness and you come across an over-turned car stuck half-way in a river and you'll have to break the glass to save the person from drowning. Yeah more like a "glass jaw-breaker" tip. I know people think they can say racist things to Asians but if Asians say something back, which I will do, it will provoke an attack and I will be hitting the guilty first.

You have people on the left that seem to want Asians to be attacked. I mentioned before in this forum while anti-Asian attacks are on the rise, a California legislature wanted to pass a law where committing assault and battery which is a felony will be reduced to a misdemeanor if the offender committed robbery in the process claiming he was poor and did it for survival. That opens the door to Asians being attacked without serious consequence to any offender. It's not surprising there are those that want to make it less serious when Asians are attacked. There's a self-defense line that has already been crossed just if anyone goes out of their way to harass someone if they don't like someone's race. Hit away...

I would say more complacent first, accusations of racism, etc. before turning to violence, but yes I agree with the vibe.

Of all groups East Asians are by far the least complacent. Naturally, this is taken advantage of. If they complain more and more and more, people will be too afraid to be accused of racism.

Time to stick together and fight together.

Wolfie. I dont often disagree with you. And ordinarily i would probably agree. But having experienced racism. I know the pent-up anger from us Asians are difficult to control.

In addition, if you look carefully. This black jerk deserve it. Look every one was going about their business including this guy. But he felt it incumbent upon to stop (a deliberate act) and shout abuse at all those "old" Asians walking across the road.

He also look quite beefy and can handle himself. So the Asian guy (looks like a young skinny guy) took the first shot from the back. Ok cowardly but so what. Out on the street, there's no Queensbury rule! I rather see the black jerk spark out than the young Asian guy any day!
