China needs to start a serious recruitment campaign for talented athletes worldwide. Cannot rely on han genetics forever when these western countries are all "represented" by so many african descents.

No. We Chinese have pride in our bloody and our genetics. Team China means a team made only of Chinese athletes. Many Chinese ethnic minorities contribute to China's medal tally, not just Hans, but we don't buy foreign athletes to compete for us. Even the Chinese people will ridicule this result if a non-Chinese wearing a Chinese flag stood with a medal for China. Overseas Chinese are always welcome to shed their foreign passports to compete for China, but they must be Chinese by blood. To replace a Chinese athlete with a foreign one is to accept defeat before the competition has even started.

I would like to see the Olympics reduced to irrelevancy. To me it's just another venue for China to pursue valueless respect from the West/world. It does nothing for China except worthless bragging rights. It has the same value how Asian countries value being liked by the West over other Asian countries. Just because one might have it, what does it do? Is there some expectation of being first in line for something and those that don't have it have to be last? It's like when the US was the only country to have stealth fighters. Japan and South Korea bragged they were a stealth power while China was not because their ally the US had them so that means they have them too. Now China actually has a real stealth fighter while Japan and South Korea have defacto imaginary stealth fighters. That's how embarrassingly worthless bragging they were stealth powers is in reality. Now they're pursuing to have a real stealth fighter to save face where Japan already has to delay its stealth fighter program and South Korea's isn't a real stealth fighter by definition. That's how worthless that kind of respect is because ultimately someone else decides if you are to be given that respect. Look at all the medals that China wins these days. Is China getting the respect it wants? China is in fool's errand if they believe they're going to get the respect they want.

Bruh China has 1.4 billion people. That's enough folks to dominate very sport in existence. They don't need immigrants to win medals for them. What they need is a grassroot training programs and finding hidden talent. This only happens when Sports becomes part of the culture. Most of the time talent goes waste when the individual doesn't receive the funding or is forced to pursue other professions due to familial compulsions.

Western media and swimming powerhouse countries mainly US and Aus been after china swimming forever. Ever since their disgraceful treatment of Ye Shiwen, I have a hatred of their guilty until proven innocent attitude. Sun yang case was inevitable, tbh he had a temper amd they made use of this to ruin him.

For world cup soccer, China has already naturalized a couple of Brazilians, who have played in China's professional league for many years.
Also, the national soccer team now has a couple of mix Chinese players. They just hope to get into the World Cup by importing even more players.

American is going to be white minority because its been a country of immigrants since inception and also sharing a border with a huge population of latinos.

These things don't apply to China. And having select talents immigrate to China isn't going to significantly change the country. We have 1.4 billion people.

What's preventing China from having higher barriers of entry than America? We can learn from what they've done right and avoid what they did wrong.




A nation's athletic program which is a huge source of cultural power and influence. Look at what the NBA does for America. These "soft wins" are precisely the type of victories China need more of.

As for "it does nothing for the average person", you can say that about a lot of things. For example, how does the average Chinese person's life change if China had 3 more carriers today? Yet we're here, pixel peeping over satellite photos.

A couple more CV visiting other countries, and featuring them in Chinese movies would be nice.

The second weightlifting gold has been gotten without any issue. Score was not stunning, 5kg below his own world record, but it was way good enough to win (11kg over the silver fella). Congrats to Li Fabin in the 61kg division, and a big "screw you, go eat a sack of dicks" to the guys at CCTV5 and CCTV5+ who decided not to air it just to show some foreigners kicking the crap out of each other in Taekwondo and some small group volleyball match, which team China lost.

I see what you mean now regarding the Korean got a face like a smack arse. Lol
But one question. I always thought weightlifters are fit strong people. The Chinese and Korean look strong and fit. But the Americans just look fat to me. Am I missing something?
