Chinese Economics Thread

The reality is the US is going to demonise China no matter what, its just part of their racist and partisan political system, they need an enemy to keep their country together. The main issue is that China is still in a relatively weaker position, they have bases in South Korea and Japan, stronger semiconductors.

The way for China to break out is to foster closer ties with its neighbours, ASEAN and South Korea/Japan. On the economics side it is doing great, with the signing of RCEP, China Korea Japan free trade. But on the soft power side it is still putting in enough effort.

The foreign ministry is still arguing with nationalistic south koreans about kimchi, which is exactly what the US wants. China really needs better PR managers.

Not limited to just Murdock media. It's from pretty much all sides of the media
Yeah, mostly funded by the USA. But soon when things go dark, I wonder how long they can peddle their crap before getting sanctioned air worse, targeted for extermination.

Man, China is ramping up the vaccinations. Hope they can go even faster in order to be able to fully open their border ASAP

As long as they wait, US will get economic advantage if US is open and China borders remain closed
A closed border would mean most Chinese will spend their money locally, rather than travelling overseas. Spending money locally is good for internal circulation of the economy,

yeahh, but also no money from overseas tourists to Chinese economy

China has never really been a very international touristy location. I guess it was never quite promoted by certain international companies, because it would be to dangerous for people to find that propaganda about China is actually just that, propaganda. But honestly, thank god for that; there's nothing worse for a nation than relaying on tourism for a big chuck of their economy.

Actually tourism is big business in China, it is just that size of local tourists dwarf foreign tourist by large margin. Popular attractions are getting increasingly crowded. For foreign tourists, expensive Chinese visa is a drawback besides the language barrier that make it difficult for self travel in China. Therefore a large portion of foreign travelers in China are actually the overseas Chinese, who can relate more to the culture, history and food.

Outbound Chinese tourists would be giving money to the western nations ie the nations which are promoting the xinjiang cotton genocide blood libel.
Better that they suffer and are reminded of the folly of biting the hand that feeds them.
It's a double edged sword. Chinese tourists gives China leverage when it comes to politics and negotiations. It means China can play the "do this or I'll pull out my tourists" card
