I am confused. Does that mean the domestic EUVL prototype can only do 32nm without multiple pattening?
That's the CIOMP tech demonstrator in 2017 (and the ASML NXE3100 in 2011 (it was stated to have 27-32nm performance by ASML in 2010, but in around 2012 (IIRC), IMEC managed to squeeze 22nm out of it (presumably due to photoresists or some sort of other optimization). Then again, CIOMP stated that their tech demonstrator fulfilled the 22-32nm EUVL requirement for a Five Year Plan.

Smic status update:

14nm chip has completed mass production in the true sense and has stable customers.

7nm chip has achieved certain customer introduction, but it has not been applied to mobile phone chips according to the original plan.

5nm is technically challenging. Planning to achieve risk production in 3 years time.

另一项公司最先进的技术——5nm芯片工艺研发已启动。曾明称,目前在5nm技术的攻关也遇到一些瓶颈,原因除了个别型号设备受限之外,5nm本身也是一个巨大的技术挑战,难度要高出7nm很多。公司计划用3年左右时间实现风险量产。

This is not true. Smic has not yet achieve 7nm. Even their 14nm chips has lower performance compared to samsung and TSMC 14nm.

This bit of information, if true, will place SMIC on a level comparable to the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC).

@foofy 7nm Chips mean SMIC N+1 (8nm) ready for mass production this April or N+2 ? risk production using SMEE 28nm DUVL since SMEE EUVL have the same timeline of introduction with 5nm chips?

@Annihilation98 Bro, I have no physical proof but Liang Mong Song is the one who successfully developed TSMC 14nm FinFET using the same ASML DUVL machine that SMIC is currently using. He is the head researcher and CO-CEO of SMIC, I think this alone is evident enough for the story to be true.
