I was wondering those bump on the side of nose seems smaller than I remember.
Yes, since they are really new from the Tibet LH-Brigade.
No one outside of the military will know the real number. Any numbers you see is based only on photographic / video evidence which will be lower than reality.
Still, what is wrong with trying to guesstimate some low end figure? There are four different brigades where z20 have been spotted, each sporting serials which correspond to those brigades.
Assuming there are at least 12 airframes per battalion, and just one z20 battalion per brigade, there are likely at least 50-ish z20 in operation. (Some are bound to be active in training units)
Once again, that is just a low ball estimate. True figure might be much higher.

Way too low we have projected production and procurement for WZ10 engine in 2021 and beyond. And it is something like 400 unit ! Assuming 2 engine per helicopter that is 200 Z20 or 100 unit per year of 8 per month make sense. Split 60 for PLA and 40 for PLAN. Z20 will be work horse for PLA and will be produced in large number. Even that is not enough recent new order for Mi 171 is confirmed
