What I dislike most is the long boots for honour guards. It looks so non-Chinese and non-PLA.

Some said it's the personal taste of previous president Jiang zemin, who has the strange mixing love for western and Russian styles. I don't think any Chinese like that long boots, including the current president Hu. But abolising it now may go too far as a way of publicly disdaining the presious leader, not a Chinese tradition as well.

Hope it will go away in the future.

Am I mistaken, or did the arm badge on the uniform says "Chinese PAP?"

Is it just me but why don't they blouse their boots?? you can see their laces all sticking out. haha, since they changed uniforms my aunt managed to get me some old uniforms from a friend in the PLA. =D

What do you guys think of these BDU's?? are they "too western"? Or just right?

Well, I'd say though they look somewhat "western", one shouldn't care about that as long as they blend in with the environment.
Another sign of progress, utility over tradition were neccessary.

Does anybody know why there are two kind of Navy spring/autumn uniforms (white and dark blue)? Since the 07 style uniforms have all gone western, I guess people here might be able to answer my question. Thanks.

Dark blue is for on-ship uses, while white is for off-ship general uses.

Besides the brown DCU's equivalent, all the uniform looks great. I see they are using the digital patterns like the US Army/Marines BDUs. I know their PLAAF officers were wearing the new style blues...however, I can't really tell a difference between the new style and the old style. I have to agree...if they can put a little of Chinese "touch" to it to make it not complete Western, would be nice. BTW...I'm not a big fan of the Russian style fur hats. Looks sharp!

As much as I would have liked them to have incorporated something more Chinese, I'm having a hard time thinking of something that wouldn't be ridiculous and clumsy other than some very minor changes, but then again something unique, like the Polish Rogatywka would have made things interestign. It's a good uniform though, the BDU's look really good.
