For sure, though I saw some well regarded members of this forum over there taking his opinions seriously so I was curious.

From the little I know, every single one of those things would be very surprising (with perhaps the exception being the length).

I think, at the end, ChineseTiger1986 will be proven right about nuclear power.

There is an estimate waterline length of 300 meter plus or minus 5 meters, comparing to CV-16LiaoNing's 270 meter waterline and USS Ford's 317 meter waterline. The final full load displacement is expected to be around 90,000 metric tons according to many discussions in China. The displacement of type 003is surely a bit than the USS Ford's but technology wise I believe is definitely a rival to the Ford class in terms of EMALS and electronics on board. Also, the width of the rear section of the ship is almost the same width as the mid section, and this is different from Ford class which has a narrow rear. Type 003 is still going to be a nice Supercarrier no matter what haha

This is the Nimitz class hull (nearly same as Ford class) at main deck level, i.e. one deck higher than the current 003 hull. I don't understand what you mean by narrow rear.

Pardon me if my English is poor.
I mean the width of the rear of the hull.
Marked using red lines.
Ford's widest width is at the mid section of the hull and then gets narrower to the rear, while type 003's hull width seems to be the same from mid to the rear. The last two pics of Ford class might not be that obvious to prove my point, but I have seen others pics of Ford and it is quite obvious that the shape of the hull is like what I said: narrower to the back.

What is the source of that estimate?

Based on previous estimates posted on this forum, the expected waterline length is 318m. Waterline beam appears to be ~39.5m-40m. Displacement cannot be estimated based on these two figures alone. The missing variables are draft and the block coefficient or the "finesse" of the hull. Photographic evidence indicates that this hull is significantly finer than either the Nimitz or Ford class and more comparable to Kitty Hawk class. With these assumptions, the upper estimate of full displacement is around 86,000t.

Ford class full displacement is not published, but is understood to be larger than the Nimitz class which displace around 106,000t.

The next relevant thing to watch for are the hangar dimensions. After that, the flight deck dimensions. That will give us good idea about the power of this ship.

In this forum the hull is measured with a waterline length of approx. 295 meters.



Ford class full displacement is not published, but is understood to be larger than the Nimitz class which displace around 106,000t.
More displacement, but the same hull. It's deeper in the water, nothing more.
