Chinese Trainer Aircraft (JL-8, JL-9, JL-10 (L-15), etc.)

I think I have shared my prediction. Although rumors are ramping up these days, I believe there is still a year or so before we can have a first glimpse on the next-gen carrier fighter.

Can I ask what you're basing your predictions on? Is it that paper from 601 describing a new design team for a next-generation combat aircraft project? I thought it was debatable what type of aircraft that was.

We have talked about this.:) This plane is not for carrier use.

But several Chinese media outlets like the GlobalTimes is reporting that and even Guizhou itself (at least that way I interpret the posts) plays with this assumption.

So it is in summary nothing but a slightly modernised JL-9G for same purpose like those delivered before: land-based naval aviation training?

But why was then this modernisation necessary?

Personally, I don't like this aircraft and I have repeated this quite a few times. With or without DSI, it's still a J-7/MiG-21 derivative. If I'm not mistaken, it still use turbojet engine. Yes, one may claims that it's very cheap and 100% made in China but now it's not time for a cheap aircraft. I hope they simply dump the project. Having L-15 is enough.

Concerning the FTC-2000G sale:

Hey, I'm from Cambodia and I haven't heard anything about this at all. Why does Cambodia want to buy this aircraft? If I'm not mistaken, Cambodia doesn't have any airworthy fighter aircraft at the moment, why bother buying a trainer?
