The inner hardpoints are connected to wing tanks, making it harder to link to the data bus as well. Thus, they cannot be used to launch missiles but rockets and bombs.

Though western jets like the F/A-18A through F have managed to have hard points that are both fuel tank and AAM/PGM compatible.

Not new tech. So why not the J-10?

J-10 uses delta wings. As shown in the picture below, the inner hardpoints connected to wing tanks are way behind the leading edges of wings, where data cables are embedded.

Here is a Gripen, that is also delta, that has inboard wing pylons that are both fuel and advanced weapon capable.

I don’t understand what you’re getting at. That a delta can’t have inboard fuel/weapons capable pylons due to wing shape?

Here’s the Gripen that has both those things.

The inner hardpoints of J-10 are not on the same line with the other hardpoints.

You are mistaken.

P.S. Damn those pesky data cables! They can only be placed near the leading edges of the wings because we all know that's how it's always done; and data cables must run along a straight line – if you bend them slightly, they'll break. Besides, there is no other place in the wings for the data cables due to the embedded "auxiliary antenna for the calibration of phased arrays" taking up all the spare space. :D:D:D
