Poodles are the 2nd most intelligent dog breed - on the other hand, huskies are among the least intelligent, also the Korean "yellow-dogs" which are bred for food tend to be not very intelligent. It just seems more humane to eat less intelligent breeds. But of course, it would be best if people stopped dog consumption altogether.

Actually I was thinking about creating a new breed just for meat. It would be illegal to eat any other breed and also illegal to keep the new breed as pets. This should control the stray population of this new breed and help alleviating some of the health concern with dog meat consumption. As for intelligence, the old argument about pigs still stands.

I've now listened to that director, well I can't jump through that vid so I'll quote from memory and you don't nitpick:

he's said 'we're moving to reopen' the states, and he's said 'one region at a time'

I'm wondering how exactly does it work, who stops at, say, Nevada border a car coming from California? state troopers? a local deputy? who? and does what?

Many Americans go to work even when they are sick - because they have no alternative.

The USA are opening up their country even though they don't have Covid-19 under control yet - because they have no alternative.

Happy are those who live in a country that can afford a different approach to a pandemic.

from the story, quote, "We want to make sure we have testing available rapidly for people who need quick answers. We want to make sure we have testing available for surveillance. And, we want to make sure we have antibody testing," he remarked.
end of quote,

and I ask why you didn't test the population earlier, sir?

The news I read these days are disgusting. Even Canadian media is starting to peddle the "blame China" story, along with a wallop of "blame Trudeau".

Do journalists have zero integrity anymore? The same people who reported extensively on China's outbreak a mere month ago are now claiming they didn't know anything about it until it was too late!

Sure the Feds could have done more early on, but considering the fact that thousands of Canadians are *still* not respecting social distancing, it becomes utterly dishonest to claim Canada could have been better prepared with earlier warning!

The North American outbreak is directly caused by the European outbreak. In late February, when Iran and Italy first began reporting on local clusters, I knew it was going to get bad over here. In fact, I took my family to an outing that weekend because I knew it was going to be the last time for a while that we would have the chance to do so. Exactly as I predicted, two weeks after that outing, Toronto began to report local clusters.

Watching the COVID-19 outbreak in Canada and US was like watching a train wreck in slow motion. Seeing the politicians downplay the threat of the virus and the general public ignoring all the warning signs, seeing Asian people being targeted for wearing masks, seeing government officials lying to the public about the usefulness of masks, and seeing the public swallow that lie hook and sinker, I knew it was inevitable Canada was going to be hit hard.

The only question was how hard.

Don't know about Canadian media specifically, but most Western MSM had focused on the political aspects of China's outbreak control efforts, not the public health aspects. The lack of awareness among Western political elites and general public on the dangers of COVID-19 were in significant part results of biased reportings from the Western MSM. Just like Trump, who would never admit mistakes and instead double down the rhetoric, the Western MSM will find ways to blame China to avoid taking on responsibilities for their own failure. I anticipated this.
