I think China has waited too long to lift internal travel restrictions and reignite the economy. With COVID-19's extreme high transmissibility, it's impossible to eliminate, so the goal should be to keep the size of the outbreak within the capacity of the healthcare system while maximize economic activities. When there is no new case for days (as it's the case for many provinces in China), economic potential are being wasted.

I disagree. The economic damage of another Wuhan is way higher than that of lost productivity. Life support for critically ill people can easily run into the millions and that's not counting the cost of medical and material support from other provinces.

I know the world supply chain being badly affected.
My mind too small and inadequate to wrap around that.

BUT
MY OWN SUPPLY CHAIN ALSO AFFECTED.

I ordered via Alibaba and other E-stores stuff from China.
The 'Murican part of my mind want to kick up a fuss and create ruckus when I did not get that and to cancel my orders
Then I thought. The inconvenience and bothersomes to me so very very very insignificant to what they are going through in China.

So I let it be.

And hopefully in time I get what I ordered and wanted.
And if not, I let it be.

I was watching on CNN today a story of some woman posting videos supposedly in China where one or more of her family members were infected with coronavirus and have recovered but the government is forcing them to be isolated still anyway. CNN made it look like her rights were being violated. What happened to all those reports in the media that people not showing signs of infection can still spread the virus? And there's this criticism of how China is handling this crisis like the West would've handled it better if it happened to them. In the US anti-vaxers want to be unrestricted and have the right to spread measles to everyone. You don't think there would be people suing because their rights were being violated in any attempt by the government to contain the virus? The 2009 swine flu a while ago started on a US corporate farm in Mexico and that spread around the world. Great job containing it.

The US media is completely schizophrenic on this. One moment it is claiming the Chinese government botched the handling of the epidemic, and the next it is decrying the "human rights abuses" caused by the quarantines.

They'd have done better if they stuck to only one story, lol!

What's consistent is they just want to bash China. They continue with their narrative that the Chinese government is not worthy enough to be the legitimate government in power. They don't care about the coronavirus just as long as it doesn't affect them hence why all the disinformation they're spreading. That's why you see the media predicting China won't recover beyond the virus itself from this. They said the same thing with the protests in Hong Kong.

The amount of cognitive dissonance at work here is simply astounding.
