He's got something right for once. This might be the end of the beginning of China taking measures to bring down foreign evils in Hong Kong and this can only end with the former British colony fully under CCP rule.

At long last, some good news regarding thugs getting sentence. A 17 And 15 year old gettind fines around $28000 for damaging metro equipments. Their lawyers saying they regret what happened and full of remorse. They also suffered from attention disorder and asberger! (dont you love the sob story)!
Another waiting for sentence for carrying weapons, his lawyer said some unknown person asked him to hold it for him! Lol!

And finally, a Nepalese student obstrucing traffic...... when I saw Nepalese. I stop reading, because what has got to do with Hong Kong! Deport him, I say!

China puts Hong Kong port calls by US military on hold after Donald Trump signs democracy act

I see this as China saying that the U.S. can forget about putting a military base in Hong Kong -- and telling the world that China is quite willing and quite able to enforce this.

Does it matter. If the Tories lose, then the Labour has the mandate to hold another referendum.

Yes, it does matter if Labour win. If they win, they have absolutely zero motivation to spend more money on a referendum. Thus we would never know whether the anti-Brexit votes were decisive, or if Labour's social and economic issues were the more important ones. Just as there is no way for you to know whether voters were really supporting the rioters, or if the ballot was really about something else.

You cannot conclude that the voters were really supporting the violent protesters.

Most of the big rallies were held in June and July. The violent protests have escalated even as the attendants of the so called peaceful protests dwindled. It only indicated that the violent protests have discouraged the moderates from attending the peaceful protests because the peaceful protests were never ended up peaceful. It doesn't mean these moderates stop supporting the pan-Dems camp or the rioters.

Thank you for agreeing with me! I have been saying all along that the pan-dem supporters want attention from Beijing, just as the rioters do, but the people are rejecting violence -- millions have NOT been attending recent protests.

IF Labour "won". But the pan-Dems camp has already won. So your scenario is irrelevant to the discussion. Who said anything about conclusion, it is perception that matters and gives the rioters the legitimacy to continue the riots.

It is a color revolution but you still think the oppositions just want some candies. And they still have not condemned violence. Not the moderates, not the pan-Dems camp, none of them have condemned violence. They still claim that in order for the violence to stop, the government needs to accept the 5 demands. If this is so called rejecting violence, then you are daydreaming.

Hong Kong protests: students sentenced to correctional training and to pay HK$285,000 in total for damaging rail facilities
  • The duo vandalised Light Rail stations in Tuen Mun on September 7, damaging ticketing machines, card readers, and surveillance cameras
  • Passing first sentence on vandalism of rail facilities during ongoing protests, judge says one should not resort to unlawful means to express his or her views

I guess the story is attractive from courtroom perspective (the defense pulling ADHD, Asperger, etc.) so follow the link

I see this as China saying that the U.S. can forget about putting a military base in Hong Kong -- and telling the world that China is quite willing and quite able to enforce this.

Going strictly by what people told me, port call by US Navy in HK was a big deal in colonial days. It was good business for shopping, restaurants, clubs, and prostitution. Similar to “Fleet Week”. Once the handover was done, it became a political hot potato and general barometer for US/PRC relations.
