Hong-Kong Protests

In the US Hong Kong is losing attention from what little propaganda coverage it had. So I don't know if that means the protests are dying as well or the US playing up Hong Kong is actually sinking the US stock market so they're piping down coverage. They certainly made a big deal over the extradition bill being pulled... again and the stock market shot up over it. The negative on China media all of the sudden believes or wants to believe pulling the extradition bill means something?

Could the moderators remove the off topic references to kashmir ?
The topic is the people's uprising in hong kong, not all the worlds troubled areas.
And India has recently taken steps to bring kashmiris to equal footing with the rest of the country. Also Kashmir has had scores of elections in the last 70 years, not like hong kong at all.
India will hold the referendum in kashmir as soon as Pakistan and China vacate the illegally occupied areas, as given in the UN resolutions. Read them, just don't blindly parrot propaganda lines.

In all fairness, moderators should ban you for specifically trolling by way of slandering Chinese government with firebombing some places without any evidence, knowing full well how the reactions will be.

Yuen Long bill pioneers to restore rule of law, address social problems: expert

Hong Kong's Yuen Long District Council became the first council in Hong Kong to pass a bill to curb violence, which experts hailed as a pioneering step to restore the rule of law and address social problems.

The bill aims to support the police to stop violence and disorder, and urges the government to take immediate and effective measures to quell the unrest, and to keep residents from getting injured or even killed, Hong Kong news outlet wenweipo.com reported on Thursday.

The bill was passed on Tuesday by a 23-6, with one abstention, the report said.

The bill followed a series of riots from radical protesters in Yuen Long district, including one on July 21 which injured 45 people.

The bill urges the government to fully support the Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC) in its investigation of allegations against the police, instruct the police to set up a special team to arrest people in riots and create a dialogue platform as soon as possible.

Tian Feilong, an associate professor at Beihang University in Beijing and an expert on Hong Kong studies, told the Global Times on Thursday that ending escalating violence is most urgent for Yuen Long, which suffered the most serious violence and conflicts in the past months.

Passing such a bill shows Yuen Long's determination to adhere to the principle of the rule of law, Tian said, noting the other 17 districts should pass similar bills as soon as possible.

Conflicts between Yuen Long residents and protesters in July triggered violence, which suggested people's lives were ruined by radical protests, Tian said. The bill urges police to conduct a thorough investigation.

The bill also advised the government to appoint scholars to a special team to study the social problems in Hong Kong and provide advice to the government. The team will study the cause of the unrest in Yuen Long, and its social and economic impact, wenweipo.com quoted district council member Leung Che-cheung as saying.

Shum Ho-kit, chairman of the district council, noted that Hong Kong should also deal with deep-seated social problems.

Tian said once the rule of law is restored, the bill could help address the social problems and improve the people's livelihood.

China broke its promises to Hong Kong. That’s why the protest movement is back with a vengeance

Beijing has not really let Hong Kong people rule Hong Kong, contrary to the principle underpinning the Basic Law. When dissent is suppressed without resolving the underlying issue, protest just emerges in another form

Hold your horses!

Reading your headline about petrol bomb, three things comes to mind.

1/ if throwing petrol bomb is wrong, how come I don't hear you condenming petrol bombS thrown at Police?

2/ where in the world did you connect a petrol bomb being thrown at that traitor Jimmy Lai WITH China, as in "China started physical intimidation of the freedom fighters"

3/ And since when did mob violence, riots, beating old people and women, and wanton destruction of property is called "freedom fighters"

Lastly, why is it the decision to seperate Hong Kong from China is only the decision for the people of Hong Kong?

Before you answer that, let me help you before you make a fool of yourself by going on about democracy, freedom, blah blah.

The clues are:
And you google it, it's not difficult! KASHMIR, Catalan. And the USA (civil war was fought on that principle)!

I really suggest you should read more from a wider chioce of materials!

Isn't this just like you. Avoiding awkward questions! I'm still waiting!

"so protest just emerged in another form"!

So you are for the rule of law? Yet in Hong Kong law-breakers is just fine!

Beating old folks. Women is just protest in another form!

Wanton destruction is just protest in another form!

Disrespecting other peoples freedom to go to work, schools and teavel is just protest in another form!

Intimidating any citizens opposing their views with verbal and physical violence is just protest in another form!

And now! Attempted mass murder by throwing bricks and other large objects onto the metro tracks. (and this morning bicycle thrown over high speed train overhead power cable in video below)! Is JUST PROTEST IN ANOTHER FORM!

It's so strange for someone to be so staunch on LAW AND ORDER. If these events happened in the west, you would be screaming for the death sentance, but IT IS PROTEST IN ANOTHER FORM if it is in Hong Kong or China!

Here's another fine example of "just protest in another form"! Intimidating a long woman who try to rip off all the illegal posters on public wall! (Another shining example of law-abiding protest)!

And all she got for her trouble was mouthful of abuse and swearing of the worse kind (for those who don't understand cantonese. He was saying Fxxk your mother). I loved her reply. "Did you learn that from your school"?

Now, if this happened in western countries. The past students addressing the current students would be lead away by men in black! Radicalisation is illegal, (and I work in education) particularly to vulnerable young minds!

So I supposed this is "just another form of protest" that the MSM keeps telling us, and would not be shown on your CCN and BBC tonights news!

This past students, addressing current students by addressing them as 師弟。and on top of that, he was wearing a helmet with "press" on it. (confirming what we know all the time that the press is in cohort with the radical students), is wrong in anyone's language!
