075 LHD thread

I wonder, how important for Chinese Navy are LHDs like Type 075? They don't need them for Senkoku, nor for Taiwan. For South China Sea, I think also not too much. Type 071 should be enough?

LHD has many function ASW is one of the function, disaster relief is another. Providing air transport for special operation and as a base for attack helicopter
It could be used for Taiwan contingencies if PLA want to land on the east coast of Taiwan where there are not much landing beach. so they have to bring troop over the mountain.

Act as troop transporter and freighter for war material. China sealift is still inadequate for Taiwan invasion Need at least 6 or 9 of these babies

Yeah even for SCS in providing lifeline and logistic support

To rescue and evacuate Chinese personnel in far away Africa in case of emergency. If one of these is based in Djibouti.

If japan can have 6 of these LHD why should China not having at least 6 or even 9?

Not saying that they are not very useful nor that China don't needs them. But, do they need them now? After all, Taiwain is easily within reach of helicopters from the mainland- cca. 150 km. You don't need LHDs to enter Taiwan Strait to launch them, and it would be very foolish to try that, because such LHD wouldn't live for long. To attack Vietnamese bases in SCS, you also don't need LHDs. Vietnamese bases are numerous, but are also small, a corvette for gunnery support and LST for invasion force and that's enough.
And to imitate USN in world policing, China first needs to clear it's own backyard, like Taiwan and SCS.

Back and forth 150 km that take too long and without support of attack helicopter those transport helicopter is as good as dead. How are you going to ferry troop and reinforce troop with 150 km distance ? . Now how are you going to rearm attack helicopter with 150 km distance ?

Those LHD will be part of invasion force with anti air destroyer and they will not attempt landing unless they clear the sky of Taiwan fighter jet

Wrong on both accounts

24 jets is not enough

And Chinese currently pulls all rotary wing from other naval units

There is no dedicated naval aviation brigade
I never said 24 was enough, if you actually bothered to read my post. I merely said that unlike the single carrier-ready model, J-15, there's plenty of helicopter models to choose from that they could produce for the 075.

Again- any LHD or similar high value target that enters taiwan Strait is as good as dead. Because of Taiwanese land missile batteries. All other invasion transports, like LSTs or LCACs will be expendable and have a high attrition rates. The same goes for helicopters, utility and combat. It will not be easy. And the most important, nobody will be so foolish to send a high-value unit in Taiwan Strait.

Again they will not attempt landing unless they have air superiority and silence those missile battery!
Then what is the type 55 or type 52 for they are designed for anti air warfare with their surface to air missile

That's easier to say than do. Even if you think you have silenced them all, some will remain. And just one or two can make life of your shiny new LHD very bad and very short.

That is what HQ9 or HQ10 are for to kill the straggler those LHD are not defenseless they are equipped with CIWS. China has at least 1000 gen 4 fighter jet Taiwan only has 300 the most , Not counting 2000 short to intermediate range missile. They will make mince meat out of Taiwan missile and radar battery

That is equally true to all LHD/LHAs of any Navy, isn't it? There is no 100% guarantee of eliminating every missile of your opponent, in real life one has to take a reasonable risk in fighting.
