why not 055 ?

Because 117 already has viewing platforms and microphones fitted.

Man in coming decade Chinese navy will be so powerful it will easily match the combined Japanese and Seventh fleet ship number. Here is video release by CGTN. Ganz wahnsinnig(insane)
Not even German rearmament prior to WWII can compare to this huge naval build up

Not the next decade but by the mid-late 2030s in our projection, once PLAN has all their organic air assets in place with a few completed CSGs centered around a 80+ ton supercarrier.

Still even with the impressive Chinese naval buildup, it is simply amazing how many ships the US Navy has. Even if the Chinese kept building ships at the same rate for a decade it wouldn't be enough to catch up.

What I am surprised is how quickly the Chinese can build the Type 055 compared with the much smaller Type 052D. It seems to take slightly less time? To build a vessel with almost twice the displacement.

China has more ships than the US navy. It also has more submarines.

But that is because US navy rely only on destroyer with no fregatte class ship. If you combined both type 54 and type 52 then the Chinese navy does not look so bad 32 type 54 + 18 Type 52 C&D= 50 VS 63 Arleigh Burke class
Not counting the 10 or so 2nd string destroyer like type 51, 52, Sovremeny? Or 60 or so type 56

But there are at least 18 type 52D launched and 12 commissioned and with 5 in the latest picture. So 11 more type 52 D is in the pipeline and 10 more Type 55 in the pipeline. total 22 more destroyer is coming in the next half decade

And who know what come next after that type 54B maybe ? And continuing of type 55 launched

So yeah in the next decade they should exceed both Japanese and 7th fleet number of ships

Here is the view from Jiangnan shipyard. I am conservative should be 15 type 52
