I am not sure this is the right question to ask! How far behind is Chinese domestic engine compared to GE or Rolls-Royce?
Can China export J-10C or J-31 with domestic engine WS-10A. By the look of J-10C, it's a good bird except Russian engine.

US beat China to figuring out problems with a 195kN engine in their F135, but the WS-15 will also be 3D TVC so that’s an additional challenge not faced by F135.

Russia is also making a 3D TVC engine in the same power class. It’s not known whether they are closer or farther away than China on finishing it.

The J31 cannot fit a WS-10 engine, they are too big. Besides, J31 is not a finished plane, just a contender to the J-XX program. It can however accept the WS-13 engine designed for drones and JF-17 which was the planned power plant.

Only the later J10 variants use WS-10 variant engines. Afaik the standard export J10 variant (based on J10A) uses a Russian engine to cut cost and protect domestic technology. That said, if someone with close relations like Pakistan asked for the most powerful J10, they could probably get it, but it would cost them.

Right now there’s not a lot of demand for high end fighters. The large budget countries are either hostile (US, UK, Japan) to China or allied but fully able to supply themselves (Russia). Saudi Arabia is a prospect, being both rich, kind of non aligned and non self sufficient, but they’re on paper an US ally, so export technology could face restrictions.

It is WZ 16 a joint engineering to developed a medium size Turboshaft between Safran and AVC engine for a new mid size Heli. Safran is responsible for the hot section and AVIC engine for the rest
like the plaque said. It is independently manufacture and certified I guess in France it is called Ardiden 3C in China it is called WZ 16 It supposed to be certified last year but I guess it is delayed.Not unusual for turbo engine

WZ16 is the Chinese designation of the Ardiden 3C engine, jointly developed (50/50) by Safran Helicopter Engines with AVIC Engine. The WZ16 is fitted in the Chinese AC352, jointly developed by Avic Helicopter with Airbus Helicopters.

It was ground tested in France in November 2013. The engine will be certified by EASA under the designation Ardiden 3C, and by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) under the designation WZ16.

The WZ16 is characterized by excellent reliability, low-cost maintenance (TBO 3,000 hours on entry-into-service and 5,000 hours once mature) and extremely low fuel consumption (at least ten per cent less than other engines in the same power range).

Can China use the engine for military use?

They all look like helicopter turbines to me. Because of the size and configuration.
Depending on the engine license these engines could be used in both civilian, military transport, or even combat applications.

turbo shaft is obviously heli engine .. lol

the engine is jointly developed by Chinese and French ... is it exactly my question whether it can be used for military

You are not answering anything, just mentioning the obvious .. like "water is wet and raining, would you get wet, it depends whether you are inside or outside and whether you are wearing rain jacket ... looool "

Yes why not it is joint development and not license So long China can make the hot section should be no problem In license arrangement the licensor normally reserve the most critical component for themselves
But the design for joint development the IP are owned by both company
That is why it is separate certification and separate manufacturing I believe Ardiden 3 C is already in production
But China new WZ 9C is already in 1200HP output

According to media’s report and information from other sources, WS-15, the very powerful engine that China has been developing, is not mature enough to be installed on J-20.
Please can someone tell me what are these medias that claimed the WS-15 is not enough mature ?
I think most of you do know this useful blog, very well informed, and very competent.
