Chinese purchase of Su-35

About the Su-35's L-Band AESA, the point is less to do counterstealth by itself than to function as a bistatic system with L-Band AEW&C. Think about it this way, the wingtip L-Band arrays are way too small to be effective counterstealth radar by themselves. However, if you have a AEW&C functioning in the L-Band, the diffracted emissions off a stealth aircraft can be picked up by the L-Band AESA on the wingtips. provided the AEW&C is datalinked to the fighter and the software supports this type of intercept.

That would also tie into claims that the Su-35 in PLAAF service lacks wing AESA; since the PLAAF does not run Russian AEW&C craft and you'd need to reprogram the KJ-500s to support datalinks + wingtip AESA. This would be a difficult task without Russian support, and with Russian support, you'd be leaking details of your AEW&C craft.

There was recently a CCTV report about the Su-35 followed by some articles by a known author, including a 10 point Q&A with descriptions of the aircraft's various features and systems and comparisons with Chinese gear.

Sounds interesting. Is there a link or search you can provide?

It is not a CCTV report. It was a Q&A session with Yankeesama.

Like I wrote, first there was a CCTV report and then there was the rest.

Please share here. Surely it is relevant and will be appreciated by many.
Of course I wouldn't mind doing so in general (I'd have put the links in the original post), but it has been brought to my attention that the way I often post things is against the rules and personally offensive to some. Thus, I can't post the links without providing a translation, so someone else will have to do it.

There is a CCTV report on Golden Helmet winner Jiang Jiayi. Is that the one you were referring to? If so, there is no information about the Su-35 in that particular report. Only aircraft featured were J-16s, J-11A/Bs, and Su-30s.

Yankee's Q&A follows a previous article that discusses the use of English in J-16 training as well as translation of Su-35 manuals.
