J-XY/J-35 carrier-borne fighter thread

I only have one request for @Deino for the Airshow (and he can refuse if he wishes!), and that is for him to ask the personnel at the FC-31 whether the PLA/PLAN has purchased the aircraft or not. :)

If he asks the question in such way, I'm pretty sure Deino will get a stare or be ignored completely.

Here is my suggestion to Deino; ask the FC-31 people if FC-31 has been completely eliminated from the competition. He might not get a straight answer, but it's likely he will get some useful information to digest.:)

Or alternatively he could ask if there are any customers that have committed to the project. :D

Regarding this new round of FC-31 being officially adopted as "J-35", I have a feeling that it is pure repetition without any new "internal" information. Especially because of the "official" designation "J-35". It is a play of word. J is short for Jian (歼) meaning F (Fighter) in Chinese. Jian is also the same pronunciation of 奸 which means "rape, fxxk". By deliberately choose 35 skipping so many numbers after J-20, it is certain (to me) to mean "F-35". Put this two together, it is a word play by some Chinese netizen and fanboy of FC-31 to mock F-35 and its customers. This kind of word play has appeared in the 1980s among young people of my generation after the Sino-Vietnamese conflict. It started from soldiers as a joke (I will skip the details to not offend people), that is where I got it during my training. This kind of play has gone more common these days "thanks" to the internet, another example is the engine nozzle.

The designation is one thing, but the rumor of a FC-31-based naval derivative has been spread for quite a while now, and by multiple "big shrimps" as well. While this is certainly no confirmation of any sort that the J-XY will indeed be based on the FC-31, there is more of a chance of this happening than of a J-20 variant becoming carrier-based.

Agree, I am not rejecting the chance of FC-31 being chosen by the navy (neither supporting it), but only to point out the false of the "J-35 being new evident". To me, if somebody fake something to prove something, it does the opposite work in disapproving something as the person loose credibility by faking even though his other words may be true.

PB19980515 talks about the J-XY's weapons:

"The J-XY can carry four 500 kg-class anti-ship missiles with a range of 200 km or so...
In the future there will be a new subsonic missile with double the range..."

According to a new post from him, the 500 kg-class weapons are similar to the CM401 anti-ship ballistic missile:
这种类似攻顶的弹 我们 为新一代隐身舰载战斗机准备了一款空射型袖珍版。。。。。。。。

500公斤 弹仓可以内置四枚 射程200.。。。。。

"An air-launched, miniaturized version of this type of attack munition (referring to the CM401 which the thread is about) is being developed for the J-XY...
It weighs 500 kg, four of these can be carried in the weapons bay, and each has a range of 200 km."

That's interesting. I was under the impression that they would be cruise missiles, but it sounds like it is a definitely a different weapon to what was described previously which is a 500km stealthy cruise missile whereas this is more of a small diameter ALBM
