J-10 Thread IV

In my opinion even if this was a test bed, the J-10 could still benefit from the serrated petal vanes as it reduces RCS on the rear quarter.

A stronger engine from the WS-15 will always come handy.

If they are testing WS-15 on a single engine plane they have reached a high confidence state with the engine. Otherwise they would have put it on a twin engine plane like a J-11, so if the test engine blows out, the plane can still come home with the other engine.

Odd looking control set up, I guess the lower ailerons are "speed brakes", it would seem odd to have them both deployed with the burner on??

Great picture by the way, and a great illustration of why you'd like to supercruise without that burner...

In all these great nozzle pictures?? (yes I'm always entertained by these little "rabbit chases"), We've NOT seen the nozzles deflected as if for OVT?? have we??

Those are the slats, that plane is performing a turn at low speed. The four “speed brakes” are located at the aft fuselage section and clearly visible here:

Well, I'm glad I said something, because I was certainly mystified?, but you are indeed correct, they are indeed the leading edge slats! the photo looks a little doctored as to contrast and lighting?? thank you very much for clearing that up, LOL, I was really scratching my head, but it is indeed a very nice photo with high contrast..

Its interesting to see the Chinese have it right on directional stability by adding those ventral fins, they do make this bird track nicely, especially at higher angles of attack...

as sexy and kool as tailless birds look to some folks, they give me the "heaby jeebies", just thinking about those early Northrup Flying wings...

The B-2 flies great, and I've been very impressed seeing it fly, but I just don't think we're ready for that on fighter aircraft??? I really don't

Yep, he's got those speed brakes deployed, trying to get that bird slowed enough to pull end behind that Flanker, but he doesn't get the job done as the Flanker is rapidly heading 180 degrees from his present heading in the next photo??? the Flanker has a couple of options, but in the real world he would likely kick that big bird into full burner to open up the distance between himself and that J-10, which being smaller and lighter will no doubt turn inside that Flanker... did someone say those are Su-35s for sure???

even with OVT I just don't think that Flanker is gonna turn the corner as well as the J-10??

somebody's gonna correct me and tell me this has an HMS aren't they?? LOL

and that that PL-10 can be fired "over the shoulder"???

J-10As flying with Thailand's Gripen. A pretty good size comparison.
