The XL10 reminds me of a Older German Grenade launcher the HK69A1.
Wonder why they are Circled looked like there is a Slot for a potential left side charging handle or they were interested in the pin used to fix the stock in place.
Those are an AGGRESSIVE muzzle device.
Right side only charging handle. Controls look AR style you can see the bolt release tab, the reverse side of the magazine release and the selector all as you would see on a M16 lower.

I wonder if the new rifle is the same as the CS/LR17 family displayed at the 2016 Zhuhai Airshow. Some people on the photo boards are claiming that it's called the "NAR", but the receiver looks quite different.

First the Rifles shown lastlyear were in a right side out display where these are inia left side out display meaning that this could be the side we didnt see. I suspect that this is an evolving system. I mean it doesn't seem like they are actually selling these yet. And the past rifles were dark earth well these are black. NAR 10 is sometimes tagged on the CS/LR14 from years ago and every industry show rifles like these seem to show.
What we are seeing then are improving prototypes of the Chinese NAR as it moves along to a point where they will eventually freeze the design and move to mass production.

It's certainly a possibility that this is merely an evolution of the earlier NAR-series design from Norinco, but there seems to be have some very significant changes. Might as well just call it a "new" rifle family.

That's kinda my point. These are a series of evolving designs. They took an established product and modified it. When it proved unready they moved on with more changes. And then more. If you Google the XM8 from the US you see the same thing and how it changed until it was cancelled and Mayasia eventually bought it.
Looking at this rifle I can see alot of the rifle shown last year yet like you I note that they changed colors and the profile of the hand guard and a few other parts. So I think we are seeing the next iteration until production. They probably trialed last years (assuming some actually worked) and the took feed back to improve production, reliably and user wants.

9mm precision rifle ? What it is going to shot, pistol rounds ? Unless China is planning to use the recent Chey Tac series of 9mm rounds for it I can't see how that will work out. Even if they do using such an obscure round is kinda hurting the export prospective. The Lapua Magnum should have been the better choice.
PS : China could also use the Russian 9x39mm for it, making this a Sino VSS.

From the look of the magazine, it seems to use 9mm pistol rounds. Very strange choice indeed. Perhaps the intention is to minimize the chance of over penetration and collateral damage, since the weapn
