The Civil war started as just that a Civil war, as Assad was in the middle of a extreme Crackdown the locals had enough.
even before
Turkey decided to play against Assad supporting the locals.
Then AQ forces retreating from Iraq decided to use the fight to there advantage and rushed into Syria.
Parts of the military defected
Chemical weapon attacks
Russia joined backing there man Assad.and disarm Obama.
Iran joined.
Turkey changed sides.
The Military defectors were left with there pants down.
AQ splintered into the Self proclaimed Caliphate.
The conflict spilled into Iraq and beyond.
Russia directly struck targets.
The Kurds started fighting.
Turkey started protesting the Kurds.

The root cause remains That Syria was NOT doing just fine. as long as that root cause is there Syria will remain in a civil war.
Exact and not really pleasant ... ! and honnest in more for the beahvior about it's people better if this dictator leaves really some completely blind !

The root cause started because the US didn't like Assad and his chemical weapons was a threat to its ally Israel. So covertly the CIA supported the backing of the Syrian rebel forces for their own interest just like they have back the Dalai Lama rebel units before back in the 1950s against the PRC in the Tibet province and the Cuban special guerrilla units in the Bay of Pigs operations that failed to name a few.

Conspiracy theories don't prove anything. This started as a civil war chemical weapons only became a factor after it was what 2 years in? And Syria has had chemical weapons for a long time there program started in the 80s and was confirmed in the by the 90s why suddenly were they a threat in 2011? Seems rather late in the game and being blunt if Isreal really was worried they have a history of moping up situations like that.

as of now, reportedly Turkish armor is in (some sources say it's not)

just a very crude view (hope the pre-War border between Syria and Turkey is visible, and so is the scale):

But yet Israel illegally has nukes and yet no western countries and/or media condemned them the same bad guy narrative treatment like they did to the North Korea. The Syrian civil war should have been delt with on their own when it was just a protest that turned violent just like in the Ukraine several years ago. Once the violent protesters felt confidence that they have the backings from the West it became a civil war with weapons and military support through NATO and the US. Yes Russia also is a part of that but they were protecting their interests of it's naval bases that has been there for decades. Bottom line nations such as Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Libya were once anti-Israel for its apartheid treatment among the Palestinians have now came under chaos through regime changing efforts by the west, therefore no more threat. It's not hard to connect the dots once you read up on ALL narrative of history.

Let’s remember what the deal is here

Russia has told Turkey any areas they clear at the end of the pull out will be handed over to the regime of Assad

Otherwise Russia will not allow Turkey into Syria

The area we are talking about is Afrin

It’s amazing how much support Russia is giving Assad, they are pretty much speaking on his behalf and deciding what areas go where
