Very nice.

Six large and capable LPDs. By far the second largest and most capable LPD force on earth now.

...and they seem to have picked up their LCAC production now too.

They are not building them for show...the PLAN, with its large all-around buildup is sending a reverberating message to the entirety of the western Pacific.

Chinese amphibious capability has taken a serious lift with these units

A amphibious ready group in the making

The 3 parts of the jigsaw

LST to carry the logistics Type 072 III
LPD lifts the ground component Type 071
LHD carry’s the air component Type 075

That would be 2 x Type 072 III LST, 1-2 x Type 071 LPD and Type 075 LHD

Around 3,000 marines and all their equipment

HDZH rumoured to have 2 x LHD under construction

Once the Type 071s get build in sufficient numbers, I think that it is highly likely that the PLAN will seek to decommission its LSTs. Amphibious operations near abroad can be undertaken by the Zubr crafts which are much more suited for it.
Any operations further abroad would have to fall to the Type 71 and the Type 75.
The Type 072s are in my opinion a stopgap measure when the PLAN have not receive ''true'' amphibious warships.

This is not the correct conclusion to draw from the buildup of 071s. LSTs will continue to be useful to the PLAN, especially in massive invasion scenarios where as many men and vehicles need to offload on an enemy beach as soon as possible. "True" amphibs will only contribute a miniscule fraction of the total landing forces in these scenarios.
