I'd be disappointed if it resembles the E-2 too closely, just as I'm disappointed in Z-20 for too closely resembling the H-60.
Why disappointed? The J-11 closely resembles the Su-27. The HQ-17 closely resembles the Tor. The Type 366 radar closely resembles the Mineral-ME. The YJ-18 closely resembles the Klub. The list goes on and on.

But that's a lame argument since China had access in each of Your examples. In case of the KJ-600 at least I do not know that china had access to it?!

Also given the similarity between an Airbus and a Boeing, it all depends on how much are You able to differ. Indeed, for my wife they are the same and even a J-10 and a F-16 would look similar.

Therefore again: I'm sure it will have similarities like the Yak-44E also had with the E-2C but I hope these differences will be - and I'm sure they will be - at least bigger than in that lame CG.

What are you talking about? China has had access to the S70 for over 3 decades. That somehow doesn't count? As for the E-2, the shape of the fuselage and control surfaces has been public information for even longer, so if the PLAN doesn't want to reinvent the wheel, a superficial external similarity is what we are going to see, not necessarily exactly what is depicted in the CGI, but then again which idiot actually thinks KJ-600 is going to look exactly like that CGI?

Happy now? ;)

Not sure why so offensive !?? I exactly said that.

All I said - and the Z-20 is exactly the same argument I mentioned - for all these "look alikes" including the Z-20 China had direct access to the original ones. In case for the E-2C at least I don't think so.

Consequently I suspect that the real KJ-600 will differ more than that CG even if it shares the same configuration....

So I rate this CG at bets as a funny fan-art but never as a real representative of the KJ-600.

Because these are all examples from the past, when China was a middling nation trailing the trendsetters in USA, Europe, and Russia/SU.

Z-20 and KJ-600 are projects of the near future, a world in which China as an aspiring superpower spends more on its military capabilities than most of Europe combined, and which has in many other areas developed to the point that it is able to pursue world-class projects and capabilities that bear a uniquely Chinese or at least modern stamp: J-10, Divine Eagle, Z-10, DF-21D, 055, etc.

In that context, to put out something that looks like a reskinned western product of fifty years ago is dispiriting and disappointing.

But let's put it another way: do you believe that if USN was designing an AEW capability for its carriers from scratch today, that it would look just like the E-2D?

Maybe not just like, but very close to, what the E-2D looks like. Just like I expect that the KJ-600 will closely resemble the E-2D. We can debate about what "close" means for you and me, but suffice it to say that I think you will be disappointed once again. You should already be prepared to be disappointed over the Z-20 because we already know that it also closely resembles the UH-60/S-70. China's military industrial complex is just now starting to emerge from copying designs, but it is not completely out yet. The most recent revelation of the YJ-18 is another good example of this.

O.k. and since in the end we all will be disappointed, so let us now assume, when will that new EAW be unveiled ?

Any guess ... IMO it's difficult to say since XAC is heavily involved manufacturing H-6K and Y-20, it also has the H-20 in the pipeline ...

Anyway I have the feeling that the KJ-600 will be unveiled even before the H-20.

What do You think?

Definitely. There seems to be prototype for it already compared to H20 which we don't even have an idea what it look like.
Also KJ600 is using existing technology that china already mastered or is well on their way of mastering. Only obstacle is putting all the subsystems together and making sure they don't clash.
H20 on the other hand is going to be all new subsystems that are mostly untested.
