This is a russian site making a comparition betwen the russian tanks and chinese tanks. For the people that know chinese tanks, do you think that this comparition is fair?

Easily the worst comparison I've ever seen.

I'll put the google translate(which is surprisingly clear) here and you can see for yourself.

The Chinese tank of Type 96B, participating in the "Biathlon Biathlon-2017", which takes place these days on the Alabino range near Moscow, is not a combat vehicle and is significantly inferior to the Russian T-72B3 tanks of the 2014 and 2016 model. Not to mention the newest T-90M.Against the backdrop of domestic machines, the Chinese export VT-4 also looks pale.

We will not spread the thought of the tree, but we will dwell on the possibilities of power plants. After all, without a reliable "flaming heart" the tank turns into a stationary target, which will be quickly destroyed.

Due to the installation of the maximum boosted engine (according to some data, up to 1200 hp), the Chinese managed to significantly increase the dynamic characteristics of the Type 96B tank. However, for this you have to pay a low resource, which is barely enough even for the duration of the competition, and a much more complicated air-conditioning and cooling system. In addition, as a result of alterations it turned out that the aft part of the body of the 96th is now a continuous weakened zone. The tank is now easy to disable, even by the fire of a large-caliber machine gun.

The power of the engines (1130 hp) of the latest versions of the T-72B3 is enough to compete on an equal footing with the Chinese "racing" tank.At the same time, with the reliability of engines, Russian tanks do not have problems. This is demonstrated not only by the "Tank Biathlon", but also by extreme test runs in countries with a hot climate.

So, relatively recently, during the competition for the purchase of a large batch of armored vehicles in Pakistan, the modern export Chinese VT-4 showed not the best result. Although the corporation NORINCO calls it "the best", this car has yet to become a real tank. It was reported that then the Pakistanis, disappointed in the VT-4, asked them to send the newest Chinese Type 99A, which is only for the PLA and is not supplied for export. It is this development that can compete on an equal footing with our T-90M.

Lev Romanov

Not only are all the points he raised pure speculation without proof, the comparision is also incredibly shallow.

The entire reasoning is "T-96B's engine is unreliable and it's rear is unprotected but T-72BM3 is reliable so T-72BM3 is superior. Also Pakistan didn't like the VT-4 therefore T-90M is better."

Not saying the speculations are made up, T-96B did break down quite a few times in recent tank biathlon competitions and there are rumors about VT-4 failed to sell itself to Pakistan, but one would at least try to compare two tanks from multiple angles.

Firepower, accuracy, protection, data link, speed, reliability, cost, maintenance cost. There are just so much one can talk about. Unless, that is, one is trying to write a biased article to pick only the aspects about T-72BM3 that has an advantage over T-96B. Unfortunately he only found one and ended up with this piece of article.

Here's some objective comparison, the last two teams are the Russian and Chinese teams respectively:

domestic sources say the targetting system in Type 96 was disabled on the first day, so that the accuracy is not a true reflection of its capability, but is fair for the games.
