The whole thing that Blackstone does not mentions or cannot admit is that the Senkaku were all declared as Japan's sovereign territory through due diligence and accepted procedures which is still the norm TODAY. It was not spoils of war nor was it stolen.

Basically Quin dynasty did not consider it as their territory then PRC did not see it as their territory up until the 70's when UN announced that there MAYBE oil deposited in the area. This can be easily be proven with maps that were printed by official PRC agency showing that Senkaku was Japan's sovereign territory.

Neither ROC nor PRC made any assertion of Senkaku to Japan till the 70's and now they are shamelessly trying to make claim as if it was from the beginning theirs to own.

Sorry but that does not fly anywhere else in the world except some place that rewrites history for their own selfish goals.

Qing/ROC/PRC challenged the unjust taking of Diaoyu through imperialistic war, but was too weak to do much more than complain. The dispute has less to do with resources than security and return of stolen territory. No one in this world, other than Japan, recognizes Diaoyu as Japanese territory. Everyone else say there's a sovereignty dispute that China and Japan should settle peacefully. So, the Community of Nations doesn't recognize Japanese sovereignty, and guess what? Neither does the US.

Diaoyu was taken unjustly from China and will be returned.

When was this might I ask?

It's all about resources, security only became a reason in the 90's after the Tiamen square incident when CCP showed their true colors.

Then take it up to the ICJ for clarification. Basically the reason why PRC doesn't is because they know they will be laughed out of court.

Yeah with PRC retracting their idiotic claim.
Diaoyu was taken unjustly from China and will be returned.
Only PRC propaganda followers say that and I don't think all even believes what they say.

End of story.

You are going off the rails again and deviating from civil discussion into the realm of pique. Unless you retract the parts in bold, I will take your emotional outburst as evidence further discussions with you is fruitless, until you recover your senses. You and I got pass some ad hominid stuff, so I hope you don't start down that track again.

Many in China give Japan the benefit of the doubt. They say "Japan is actually sorry for what they did to us, they won't do it again. They're just too proud to apologise." I was on the fence about this; perhaps Japan is sorry and have undergone a heartfelt change from their aggressive past, perhaps not.

But you have decided for me. Thank you, you have shed the clearest light on this issue. There is no more room for debate. The Japanese people have NOT changed. They are still an aggressive people with a cruel and arrogant psyche.

In 1895, on the eve of Japan's quest of cruelty to her neighbours, she robbed China of Formosa and its surrounding islands, including Diaoyu Island. Fifty years later, Asia waited for the return of everything Japan plundered. And yet, Japan has the audacity to not only refuse to return her plundered territories, but also to point their finger at the victims and accuse them of propaganda.

Forgiveness follows repentance. And your type will never repent, it's obvious now.

Let's not cast the positions of SamuraiBlue or the actions current Japanese government as necessarily what all the Japanese population feels.

There needs to be room for eventual reconciliation of historical events to a degree and that cannot be done by characterizing all people of an entire country with those kind of visceral feelings.

Japanese don't change their minds by reason or words; they change their minds by atomic bombs. History has made that very clear.

Japanese equation:
White devil barbarian + 2 atomic bombs = Generous master whom we love to serve

I can't be the only one who noticed the irony of SamuraiBlue's abbreviation is SB :p

With that said, pretty much all territory in this world belonged to someone else in history, power is what allows you to keep what you have. I for one don't care too much about all the historical justifications, the owner will be decided by who has the most power at the location in question.
