Ummm... where did you get that idea?

First of all the Chinese Academy of Sciences is the national academy of sciences for China. For CAS to come out with something as middling as a fighter AESA would be silly. That would be expected for a specific defence/science institute with a given number, but not ascribed to the CAS as a whole.

More importantly -- read the sign itself. It is the National Chung Shan Institute of Science and Technology; NCSIST, which is the primary R&D institute for the ministry of national defence for ROC/Taiwan!!!
